I started painting a M151A Mutt Jeep that I won at a model show raffle a few years ago. It's the 1/35 Academy kit and I wager it's an older kit based in the poor molding and parts fit. Due to this I unded up making modifications to it such as changing the gun and amber lights on the front fenders.
This kit will be part of a diorama with a JGSDF Light Armored Vehicle which I finished and posted yesterday and a couple robots. The premise is a staging point in a Middle Eastern conflict where a rogue militia man is giving the JGSDF intelligence in exchange for $$$ and goods. The M151A was somehow aquired by the militiaman and was long ago painted white.
Here's the in-prog pics. Scroll to the bottom of the page for the Mutt:

Thoughts?
The MUTT is painted white? The militia steal it from the UN maybe?

Today I applied the filters to my Jeep. These did a great job of altering the white to a more desert-tone. As if it used to be a light buff, but was sun-bleached over years in the sun. The effect will be strengthed in the next step which is "discoloration" with oils. Here's some pics:

Here's the latest on the Jeep. The washes really bring out the desert look.

Today I applied the rust and dust to the Jeep with the Mig Pigment powders. I'm still in the process of dusting it but here's some progress shots of the rust and initial dust.

Thanks! I was wondering if anyone would reply. :-)
I finished the M151A. Here are the finished images of the build. Thoughts?

Good job on the MUTT. Since it is a what-if/Sci-Fi build, I guess it is not a big deal, but... An actual M151A2 could not support an M2 .50 cal without extra supports added to the floorboards and frame. In its standard configuration (as built) the recoil of the .50 cal would crack the floorboard and frame, basically shaking it apart. It wasn't designed to carry a gun that big. Looks good though.
The rest of the Sci-Fi stuff doesn't interset me though. Probably the same reason you didn't get a response from others as well.

Thanks for the the comments and info guys. I had no idea the gun would rip the Mutts floor up. I haven't done much armor so those things didn't occur to me. Glad you guys like it.

The paintwork looks pretty darn good to me! Since it's fictional who cares about the little accuracy bugs anyway. It looks like a beat up mutt used in the desert, just like it was supposed to when you started it, nice model!

Thanks! Hopefully the two mecha will look as "realistic" as the vehicles. Doing the in-progs helps me to remember what I did and when. :-)
