I'm thinking of getting the Zvezda kit of the Panzerjeager 1 Has anyone built it? I'll probably get some photo etch for it I know eduard has a set Are the tracks at least halfway decent? Hopefully I won't have to get replacement tracks
I just think that's a neat looking little S.P.gun Also, besides the National crosses, what type of markings would it have? It's gonna go panzer gray

I haven't built the kit, but I believe it's supposed to be the Italeri PZ I kit with a new superstructure by Zvezda...It's supposed to be a nice kit, but it comes with the vinyl rubber band tracks. I've never been too keen on those, but some people like 'em.

I think SS74 said on the forum that tristar was going to release a model of the same vehicle.
If that happens, it should probably much nicer... and more expensive.
Let's see what SS74 says !

well if it is a re-release of the Italeri panzer 1 kit it should be OK. With sme care it will make a nice little kit. Havent got it myself but I was reading a thread earlier tonight on the Italeri version and folk had only good things to say about it! If its cheap its worth it......... Nice topic and it could utilize some of these modelling skills that are not called upon so much with more modern kits!

I was under the impression that this was a Zvezda kit not Italeri (i.e. Italeri reboxed it). The hull bottom has Zvezda molded directly into it. Zvezda did a couple Panzer I based vehicles (Panzerjager I, Panzer I Ausf. B, and Panzerbefhelswagen I) all of which were pretty nice kits. I have each of the kits and they are pretty darn nice. All will build up into good models with a bit of work and new tracks. The vinyl tracks that come with the kit are absolutely terrible and will definately need replacing but other than that they are good. There is a review that you may want to check out. It is for the Panzerbefhelswagen I kit, but all of the comments on fit and accuracy will apply to the Panzerjager I as well.

Hi PenPen, I had talked to the Tristar people on this subject, and we all think that it might be a sensible thing with the already existing Pz 1 A chasis, but at that time they don't seems to be too keen on working on it.
I am not 100% sure about Tri-Star will ever do this nice TD, but I will use any opportunity I got to bug them about it, after all, it's only 10 minutes away from my home, and I spent hundreds and hundreds every month in their shop... #:-)

Davidus, tell Tristar if they don't make a Panzerjaeger 1 that I will escape from the Phantom Zone and wreak havoc over there For those who don't know about my code name here I am an evil version of Superman When Krypton was still in existence Superman's father Jor-El placed me in the Phantom Zone
I only tried to take over the planet I thought the citizens where too weak Sheesh you try to help people become stronger and you get sent to the Phantom Zone

O.k. here is some information that I got over at Track-Link from David Nickels regarding the Italeri vs. Zvzeda question:
Quoted Text
The Panzer I was definitely tooled by Italeri. Italeri made the Panzer I and Befehlspanzer back in the early 1970s. Zvezda is a relatively new company, and early on they started cooperating with Italeri as far as kit distribution goes. the addition of the Zvezda logo on the mold is no problem. That happens all the time when molds are loaned out. Zvezda sells ex-Italeri and DML kits in Russia and Eastern Europe and Italeri packages Zvezda made kits for Western sales. Zvezda did work with Italeri on the Panzerjaeger I, contributing the gun and superstructure tooling to the Italeri chassis.
