I am going to do a T-26A by Mirage soon. I was wondering if anybody has done this model before and if you have had any problems with it. All comments will help thanks.

Yup. Got it for Christmas. Built most of it so far, plastic seems a little weak, but goes together ok. You are going to need some patience gluing it together, since some piece require filing/sanding/filling. The only downer on the one I got is that it is missing the outer roadwheels, and now I must search for some before I can complete it.

If you are not going to use PE, you will want to thin down the triangular and oval pieces that attach to the fenders and the hull as those were only sheet metal on the actual vehicle. Be careful while assembling the running gear as it is a bit fiddly. The kit is a nice one. It's only real problems are the tracks and the fact that it isn't really a T-26. It is the old Sponjnia (sp?) 7TP kit reworked to look like a T-26. If you haven't purchased the kit yet you may want to consider getting the Zvezda T-26A instead as it is an actual T-26. I would highly suggest replacing the tracks because the ones provided are pretty crappy. Friulmodel, Modelkasten, and RPM all make replacement sets. I have used the Friulmodel ones and they were great. All in all, it is a fun little kit and with some AM tracks and PE it can be really good.

avukich,
I have a few questions for you. As I am new to modeling I don't really know the abbriviations you used like PE? and AM? If you could clear those up it would be great. The second question is if you could give the websites for where I can get the tracks that you mentioned. Thankz

PE=Photo etch. This is brass or stainless steel sheets of detail parts that enhance the basic kit. Go to www.eduard.com to see some of the sets available in the various scales.
AM=After Market. This is anything bought that is used to enhance the kit. This includes PE, turned aluminum barrels, replacement plastic parts (track, machine guns, etc.), resin parts, decals, etc.

Michael--In regards to the tracks from Friulmodel, the cheapest place in America to buy them is Michigan Discount Models. He also sells the Eduard PE for the T-26 if you are interested in trying it out. Actually if you have plans to ever try that stuff out, this is the perfect oppurtunity. The T-26 Eduard PE was my first attempt at PE because it is a relatively simple set. If you don't want to spend the $25.50 for Friulmodel tracks you should look into the RPM single links. They aren't listed on the site above, but he can get them for you and based on the other set of RPM single links that he has listed they will be $5.56. That said, if you can afford it go with the Friulmodel ones as they are far superior, but either set will be a great improvement over what comes with the kit.
