Hi guys

Do any of you know of any 1/35 Civilian car kits available for a WW2 dio? I've searched through the suppliers (most of 'em) and come up with nothing.

I'm wanting something French or German, rusted, up on blocks in a French/Dutch back garden, short of scratch building something I havn't come across anything other than a modern burnt out car.

Any help or suggestions would be great!

Thanks in advance

Matt

Hi Matt,

I will look around and see if I can find something like you are looking for.

As a suggestion you might want to go to ModelGeek and place the same post in the Automotive forum. I am sure that someone will be able to help you out there.

Good luck, HARV

Many thanks guys

I posted over on MG and its as I feared, any of the resin offerings are actually military vehicles and although they'd work in a civilian role they are 1940's models and I'm looking for something from the 1920's or 30's to allow for the broken down condition and rust.

it looks like I'll have to challenge myself again and build something from scratch! Its not needed until my next project, so I've got plenty of time...

Thanks again for the help.

Matt

Hi , why not a truck , you can by using the Toko or Eastern Express Kit of the Gaz A , AA , AAA , turn it into a hundred different types used in WW2 , as it was based on the Ford A , and was the most copied Truck in the world . Other truck makers just changed the style of the bonnet louvers or numbers less or more and pos of the head lights and cab roof . Do a library search for the following books S W stevens Stratten - British Lorries in Colour ISBN no 07110 2245 3 published by Ian Allen 1994 next B S Watson Classic Commercials in Colur ISBN No 07110 2704 8 published by Ian Allen 2000 , plenty of ideas cheers ian

Why not get a CMK VW bettle and remove the parts that make it an afrika Kopr vehicle and you will have a nice German civy car.

I had such an idea in mind, and I myself have a CMK Type 82 version. I was thinking of making a 1950's era VW bug, but what modifications would nned to be done, and what colors to use?

Matt,

I found this at Squadron Mail Order. It might be a little more than what you want to spend. It is a Russian car however it might work for what you are wanting to do. I just thought I would share.

I will keep looking.

HARV, that's fantastic! But the price isn't (unfortunately).

I'm going into town later on today and thought I might check out the Charity shops for old toy cars, you never know!

Thanks for the link.

If you decide to go the "resin" way, DesKit has released 1/35 1936 Simca Cinq kits. 3 variants are available. The Simca Cinq was very popular in France. It was a licence-built Fiat Topolino.

You're welcome Matt. I thought it would be a good one until I saw the price. Oh well, there has to be a cheaper car kit out there somewhere. We will find one for you yet.

Many thanks for thinking of me mate! I havn't been able to get anywhere with an affordable option, but did you see Frenchys' post? The vehicles from DesKit are on the nose! However, I've checked out their website and can't actually find any prices and I get the feeling that if I do they're going to be... BIG! Which is a swine because the cars are excellent, the right nationality and the right age.

I'm seriously thinking about scratch building my own but then again... I don't know, I don't want to 'cop out' and not use anything, I'm like a dog with a stick, I won't let go!

Cheers again

Matt

PS. And my thanks to Frenchy for your post, do you have any idea of prices?

Hi Matt,

I don't know if you do the eBay thing or not but I found a few cars on there today. I thought I would share this with you. I will post these for Kelly Zak as well. Maybe this will help you out some. I will still keep looking.

Hi Matt

Blast-Models is a retailer for DesKit resin kits. Unfortunately, most of the items appear to be (temporarily ?) out of stock....

Hey you blokes, if we carry on like this we'll have cornered the market!

HARV - thanks for those links, if I can't come up with anything else they'll do just fine and the price is good too!

FRENCHY - I really fancy those DesKit cars! And if I win the lottery....

KELLY - I bet we're not the only ones!

I'm going to York this weekend (a Mecca for collectors shops and such!) if I come across anything in 1/35th I'll snap it up and let ya'll know!

Wish me luck!

Matt
