There were both khaki and OD ones that I have seen in pictures.

in my opinion you can give then the same color as the sandbags that were used in WWII..

Well, when I first went into the (US) Army in 1972, they were sort of a 'pea green', and were made of something OTHER than burlap, canvas etc... more like a nylon coated material with black draw strings. Whatever the material, they tended to blend in real good once the dirt and dust etc settled on.
When I finally left the Army for good in 1992, they were the same color and material.
