Hi Ho people,

I picked up an amazing bargain today at my LMS, a Trumpeter USMC M1A1HA with TWMP and a Mini Hobby Models AAV7A1 with EAAK as an OIF box set in 1/35th for £35 !!. I have just had a look in the boxes, the Abrams has a HUGE bag of extras including a nice set of resin bed rolls and packs etc and a deep fording add on set. The AAV7A1 is I think a Tamiya re box ?? as it has what looks like half of the US Modern Accesory set with it and the figures do look VERY Tamiya. Unfortuanetly the AAV doesnt have any interior detail at all and Iwas wondering if any one can recommend or know of any interior detail sets for this kit ??. The October edition of Model Military International has an excellent review of a build using a Tamiya AAV with an interior made up of old Bradley seating from another kit, which I don't have.

Thanks for reading !!

Right know Kev the only interior for the AAV7 is from Hobby Fan. It is very nice, but expensive There is supposed to be another interior coming out and at a resionable price, but i haven't seen it yet.

Hi Kevin,
the only interior set on the shelves is from Hobby Fan and is a wallet killer !! 130$ or so.

So it's up to you to buy it or try scratchbuild your own ... like I did

Neither Tamiya Amtrac has an interior.

David E. Harper's recent book "Modern American Amtracs" should be useful if you decide to scratchbuild the interior. It includes 17 interior pics of the AAV7A1. David's previous book "Vehicles of the USMC in OIF" includes 19 other AAV interior pics....
Both books are available on HardCorpsModels website

BTW, MiniHobby AAV kit is not a Tamiya kit re-box, it's rather a copy of the Trumpeter kit. Unfortunately, its hull parts are not accurate because of the original motorization . Just have a look at Vodnik's review on Armorama :

I'll second what Frenchy says. The Mini Hobby AAVP7A1 is not a reboxed Tamiya model. It is a really poor, modified copy. Its hull is all out of wack since it was modified for motorization. The detail is soft due to poor copying of Tamiya parts, and some part are simplified by making mulitiple parts from Tamiya's as one part in Mini Hobby's kit. Best bet is to save the mediocre EAAK and add it to the Tamiya AAVP7A1 and throw away the rest of teh crappy Mini Hobby kit.

Gino,

I did that and had quite a time getting the EAAK to fit to the Tamyia AAVP7A1 but it did come out ok

I agree, they aren't a perfect fit. They are workable and much cheaper than the rediculously priced Hobby Fan EAAK set though. With some TLC, the MH EAAK can come out looking great.
