Hi all,
I've just finished two MB figures (US paras France 44) and slightly modified them to incorporate them in my long last project diorama of battle of the buldge. Quality of the pic is not perfect, sorry for that. Two others DML 101 in great coat are also waiting to surrender and for painting.
Comments and critics are welcomed.
Best,
Julien

Hi Jan.
Thank You. Yes it's the Alpine US tanker head.
I thought this head nicely reflects what would be a wounded guy trying to walk to captivity..
Anyway MB heads are not good as they don't feet with the helmet.
Best,
Julien

Not bad Julien
what about getting the boots-bottom of trousers a bit more dirty? Remember the battle of the Bulge was fought on winter time -also, the blood seeems to pour from the wound like the trousers are done of plastic or metal if you see what i mean -normally it would accumulate in the trouser's "bends" (sorry, i don't have the word!) and would also turn into a browner/darker colour.
keep on the good work

Thanks Polycarpe.
For the Mud effect, in fact I wait for the dio in itself. Once the ground will be done, I'll use the same colour/earth etc on the trousers, boots, helmets etc..I will use also pastel on elbows, knees etc..
Regarding blood, your absoltely right. it has to be browner ! In the hole made in putty I put diluted Burn Sienna oil color, but I will have to do also in the curves (Maybe it's the word you were searching for ?) of the trousers. What was interesting is that its a two tone blood : a darker one in the low of the trouser, a shiny and clearer one near the hole, like fresh blood.Don't want to put too many blood on him. Just like if it just was hit by a german hunting him.

Gday Julien
You have done a good job here
Couple of things though... there is something too similar about their stride (walk) as though a mirror image of each other. It was the first thing that I noticed really! Not sure what could be done now, though...
I'm not sure that the US flag patch would be present during the Ardennes fighting, as it would only be used for combined airborne operations IIRC...
You could try some red ink from Mr. Bic as blood too, as it has a realistic sheen to it...
The faces are well painted mate
This sopunds like a big project, and I want more pics as they progress!
Cheers
Brad

Hi Bradley,
Thanks !
The paras poses look smilar because I've glue them in that way to take a foto. When including them in my dio, I will try to lower the wounded one, as if he looks heavier..
For the US flag, "hoho" as rainman would say, too late I guess, I already glue it...
For the red ink from M. Bic, thanks a lot ! that's a nice tip. But when figurinist talk about INK they used, what type of ink they refer to ?
I 've noticed my camera is not for macro. A lot of details disapeared on the pics. A friend of mine have a really good camera. I will buy some beer...and post on the forum better pics of all element of my dio I already have.
Best,
Julien

I
No worries mate!
The ink they refer to is more likely to be artists inks such as for fontaine pens etc. used for washes...(Not the 'syrupy' stuff from Monsieur Bic )
Cheers
