Hi guys,
I just bought the Trump Ariete kit and Lion Roar PE set. Any ideas for the painting though? What would be the tamiya equivalent of the paint?
grazie!

I have this nice paint conversion chart... it tells you the Humbrol equivalent for every colour, but you will not have any difficulty to get the Tamiya equivalent!
http://fbriere.free.fr/250/paint.htm
If I can tell you my opinion, I think XF-58 should be right, perhaps with a filter... (my father works in the Italian army and dealt with Leopard 1 tanks in the past... and I've never built an Italian tank!)

Hi guys,
Lifecolor has a very nice "Dark Italian Green" which to me looks very close to the pictures Iīve of the Ariete. The gun supplied in the kit though should be replaced - apparently itīs from an early production and the gun used now looks different. I know there is a replacement barrel, just can not remember who produces it.
Best regards from Denmark
Morten

Hello everyone,
The barrel replacement in question is from Model Point (MPT35059-6). Just ordered mine @ 21 USD. Thanks to everyone for the color hints on the Ariete C1. Just started working on one myself!
Happy Modeling All!!

Royal Model also makes a replacement barrel.
It is resin, accurate for a production barrel, and includes the muzzle reference system for the end of the barrel.

One problem i found on my Ariete was the clearance around the drive sproket. Not sure if i had mounted it wrong, or if the tracks were thicker than they should have been, but i had to relocate both drive sprokets to fit the tracks...something to check i think.

Hi Kurt,
Life color paints can be purchased from mission models or militaryhobbies.com (and lots of other places - try google them :-))
The color I use for my Ariete is the UA111 "Italian dark olive green 2". They have a zillion of green and brown colors and you just thin with water and overspray 2 or 3 thin layers. Very easy to work with!

Be careful the Ariete looks much more gray than green...
The only occasion in which I see them green is when the paint is wet. If you're interested in some more ref pics you can have a look here...

Great Pics Fabio! I'm assuming, and this might be an obvious observation, that the later photos that show the C1 in the standard Nato three tone scheme is probably the most current and standard scheme used by the Ariete unit right? Or is there two different schemes in play here?
Thank You,
Kurt

I'm happy that you found the pics useful. For what concerns the NATO three tone camo, zt present there's only one tank "wearing" these colours and it's in Rome in a training facility. In theory when the Arietes will go back to factory for major maint they should receive the three tones camo scheme...

I forgot to tell you that there's another Ariete "apparently" wearing a three tones camo. Is the one in the Cavalry school in Lecce but it's a prototype (without engine too) and the camo pattern is not standard...

Ciao Fabio,
Thank you very much for the update and the pictures - what would be your best guess in regards to color for the Ariete??

Hey Jason, if you know, could you please tell me the differences in Royal Models kits number 432 and 434. One kit says "early Iraq version" and this goes for $64 and the other, the late war version is only $16. Unfortunately there's no corrosponding pictures included on that item.
Thanks for the help,
Kurt

Kurt,
Here's the Royal Model site...it has photos.
432- has the add-on armour components, main gun barrel, machine guns, machine gun shields, turret bustle stowage, antenna mounts, and other detail parts.
434- has the additional add-on armour (4 pieces) that were mounted on the original add-on armour and a crew helmet.
