Could anybody help me out on this one?
I read on a topic somewhere about a combination of varius colors(humbrol)to achieve the best gray-blue color for the tiger's interior hull.
The problem is that the number of the paint does not exist(i thing it was 115)I can't find it anywhere!
Is there an other solution, maybe an other code number or some other enamel brand that comes close???
Thanks in advance for any help provided to a desperate man

I used Tamiya's spray USNHaze Grey (WWII-modern haze is not blue grey) on my initial engine bay. Looked like a ringer for the one being restored... I thought the interior itself was buff/off white?

This is acrylic right?I like it and it seems correct but i need enamel
Half the way up the hull and the turet were buff/off white. The lower part of the hull was in some parts red primer and in others grey-blue.
Thanks Kevin

This one was done with Tamiya's laquer spray paint I had from some WWII ship projects. MM does make a haze grey in bottle form but only in acrylic, the enamel version is the 'modern' haze grey which has virtually no blue tint to it at all. For some reason, the most common color for all navy ships throughout WWII is very difficult to find in enamel. I have about 20 different greys for WWII ships and save 'chips' sprayed on scrap plastic everytime I mix stuff up and that particular spray paint was a dead ringer for some of the photos I saw used in the Bovington tiger(the paint is not quite as blue as the photo I took under flash looks)...
Gallery 13 and 14 show the engine bay, tons of interior pics too:
bovington tiger restoration
Funny enough, the second I saw the pic again I thought 'Haze Grey" that Tamiya spray is a pretty darn good match! I may have to break out an extra initial tiger kit I have and spend a little more time 'inside' it... The pigment is as fine as airbrushed paint, you may want to just pick up a can...

Does anyone make a full interior set for the DML tigers? I may just do one in red-brown primer with all hatches open and the top of the turret left off... hmmm.........

I'm building a full interior tiger1 and my only problem is that some of the pieces are already painted with humbrol such as the engine and if i use in the same area an acrylic paint it will be impossible to seal it with a varnish!!!And since it is going to stay "full monty" a varnice is obligatory.
Since i've never used tamyia's laquer i don't know what it is.
Sorry for the stupid question of the month but what exactly is a laquer?
Thanks for taking the time to answer to my questions.Much appreciated!

I've never heared of a full or even a partial interior set for the tiger.I'll ask around in other sites and i'll get back to you.
If you are going to leave the turet open then you need to put many(and i mean MANY)things that are visible from there.Dragon has a kit with full interior(i think) but i guess you already have the one without the interior.
Scratchbuild is out of the question?
Whatever you do just don't buy the academy kit..........
Believe me it's not worth the trouble or the money...
I know...I'm scratchbuilding 85% of the interior for a kit that i purchased "with the interior"!!!!The other 15% will be modified to fit
I will post some pics as soon as i start painting!

Tamiya spray laquers are their regular spray paint line for the most part. They should have no compatability problems with any paints other then maybe over oil(its not effected by oil washes later though and may actually work but I've never tried). But it will work with dried enamels and acrylics. Dullcote spray for instance is a laquer spray paint. The spray color is TS-32 and is part of the normal store Tamiya rack usually. Humbrol may make a WWII haze grey, The only enamels I have of it though are White Ensign Models Colorcoat paints(for ship models) because of the subjects I use it on.
I checked into interiors for the T1 and am gonna skip it I think I will just build the Trumpeter T34 in 1/16th and take the plunge into that for a winter project....
EDIT: no, humbrol doesn't make 5-H haze grey either. I never understood why no one 'mainstream' makes it in enamel but makes obscure colors by the dozens. Its literally the olive drab of the WWII US Navy.

Thank you very-very much Kevin
I was really confused and stressed out because nothing is going the easy way with this kit and the paint problem was the final drop
To give you an idea of what i had to do in order to have a good(not perfect)interior replica check this photo.
Btw the pieces are not fitted in their exact final position.I can't glue them before i paint the lower parts.Thats where you come in

Wow that looks like one heck of a challenge to do! I think I may be a hatches-closed fan for a while Its looking great!
You could paint the entire hull area with that spray and you would be set though! The Tamiya sprays are high coverage and dry extremely quick. When I have built ships using them I finish in half the time it would take otherwise. I also reccommend Tamiya spray primer as well as I have used everything else quite a few times over. I actually have about 90 cans of spray paint plus plenty of bottles

Academy makes a Tiger with a full interior too, if you're looking to get a kit with everything in it already.

This IS the Academy kit and when i purchased it i also believed it was with FULL interior.Iwas searching through the internet for infos for a month before i even opened the box.
The result-85%scratchbuilding missing parts or rebuilding innaccurate ones.......
For example as you can see at the pic. the ammunition storage is part of the kit....only 4.5mm shorter :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
Get the idea????
