OK so I am a little late in catching up.
I bought the DML M4A1 76 ( Operation Cobra ) today.
I want to depict the kit as a Polish or Canadian ( if possible ) tank.
Is there anything I need to look out for in the kit buildup and any suggestions for a Polish or Canadian tank in NWE?
I believe it wasn't used by the British or Canadians in NWE. Can anyone confirm this.
Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions.
Cheers
Kevin

I do not believe the Canadians used this variant full stop (but would be happily correct by those more knowledgeable) in either NWE or Italy.
The Polish used it in NWE from Oct 44 onward and the Polish Militaria Polish Sherman Vol II is an indespensible reference for these.
Commonwealth use in Italy appears to be confined to 6 South African AD and 2 RTR but probably the rest of the Brigade that 2RTR beloneged to got them as well.
The Polish used them pretty much as the kit is depicted although I believe the markings option had T49 tracks. The kit has a lot of the Brit fittings including the tab of the turret side for a Sun Compass (I've only EVER seen this on Commonwealth/Polish vehicles). Many pics exist with Brit Stowage boxes on the turret rears and various Ammo boxes and typical brit stowage features from NWE.
I'd recommend the Polish book if you are going to do a Pole one.
There is an unconfirmed report that the Grenadier Guards may have recieved some late in the war but as I say this is unconfirmed and I'll believe it when I see pics.

Canadians didn't use this tank.
They mainly used the M4A2 and M4A4. I do recall that there was one regiment (Govenor Generals Horse Guards perhaps?) that used the M4A1 briefly but I think it was the varient with the plain ole 75mm gun.
If I am wrong I am sure someone with more knowledge will be along shortly to correct me.
Have fun with that kit. I have my eye on it but have a couple other projects to finish first.
