Does any one know where they store the extra box mazines for the soldier. Does he carry them around on him, or what?
thanks,
Mike

SAW ammo comes in 100 round plastic drums that are carried in a bandolier. The gunner will have several on him (unsure of his basic load) and additional bandoliers will be distributed among squad members.

When I carried a SAW I was issued 2. SAW Pouches (attached to the pistol belt) that held the 200 round plastic drum. Additionaly I/we carried 6 thirty round magazines on our LBV (load bearing vest). I've never seen a pic' of one but we also had a little canvas "starter bag" , holding 75 rounds, that was hooked/carried/whatever on the SAW. This arangement/basic load was the standard in the 1st BDE, 25th I.D as of last year.
