The tracks are a hard black styrene connected with metalpins.
Metaltracks are availeble from other sources, eg. backyardarmor, but are quite expencive.
Cheers

The metal tracks are nice, but the tracks can cost as much as the kit!
I looked into the metal tracks for my 1/16th Trumpeter T-34,s. Wow, expensive!!

Sure. Just treat the 1:16 like it was a 1:35! Wash the parts etc. Tami acrylics or any paints will work. You'll use quite a bit of paint though.

Sorry Folks!
I gotta pipe in here seeing I finished this kit months ago for a client. True, the tracks in the kit are plastic, but they are softer than the plastic in the rest of the kit. This leads to your next problem. The tracks do not take to primer paints to well. The paint will chip off with ease just from handling the beast. This means when you pick it up to move it, you will find paint flecks all over the place from where you just moved it from...
I used a major brand enamel fast dry primer paint in the spray can that stated it could be used on plastic, metal, wood, etc...Boy! was I suprised.
I made sure the tracks where completely clean before proceeding and I allowed the tracks to dry for 4 days before I followed up with tamiya acryl. I wanted to use a good primer due to the fact that the tracks are made up of both plastic and metal.
Now with this said, I would use extreme caution if you want to give it a go with just the acryl. Test it out on a couple of links first and you decide what works the best.
Hope this helps,
Oh and by the way, the track links are silver/grey not black.
Steve
