Hi all

I know that in scale (1/35) the average length for antennae on US vehicles is about 9cm/10cm.

Tamiya states that the challenger 1 mk.3 length is 7cm.

However what is the average width in 1/35 for antennae on modern tanks?

Evergreen sell packs of plastic rod which ranges from 0.5mm all the way to 3.2mm in diameter. Just trying to get an idea of which pack(s) would be the best to get.

Generally only building US, NATO and Russian tanks. Perhaps that can narrow down the sizes?

Thanks
John

Actually, evergreen makes rod down to .020. Even that I'd say is too wide, though. I used brass rod, infinitely more durable when you bump into it (!), and I think I used .010 for some WW2 U.S. antennae. HTH.

I cheat, 0.08 or 0.09 gauge guitar string is what I use for aerials.

The antenna sections for the US AS-1729 VHF Antenna (1095 & 12??) (70- mid 90's) were no wider than an inch from memory at any point with the widest being the base and the join in the middle. That would equate to 0.36 mm at its widest point or 1/35" or 28.5 thou.

Heavy, could you perhaps provide me with the Evergreen product code for the 0.010 rods?

Their website only goes down to 0.020.

Thanks

I stand corrected, just checked the bag, guess it is 0.20. It looks good to me though.

Thanks for clearing that up Heavy.

Thanks to everybody who responded and made suggestions.

Guess I'm off to purchase some plastic rod.

John
