I was interested to ask how all of you go about displaying and presenting your completed work.
I have over 50 - 60 completed dioramas, some of which are packed away in boxes and some on display in glass or perspex covers, some in cabinets etc. Having these items on permanent display calls for a small museum!. Which is best..individual purpose built covers or a specially designed cabinet. Space always becomes a major problem and in especially in 1/35 scale.
Most 1/72 scale modellers can fit double the amount of subjects in the same amount of space. I also have 1/350 scale ships (these are massive!). Where to next???
Regards
Garth

That's a lot of stuff to stock!
If you want to show most of them, i would go with a few glass cabinets.
Otherwise you need to put the individualy covered dios on some shelves and plaster your wall with those. Double work in my opinion.
And not every dio is prepared to properly take some cover, not to mention the different sizes.
I would chose a topten or toptwenty and put them in one or two cabinets.
Cheers

Thank you, Claude, good advice!
Many of my diorama's are 10-12 years old. I try to keep everything and learn by the mistakes! Good point about the base size. Maybe its time to standardize the base sizes so they all fit together neatly!
I have made a number of custom covers from perspex and glass, but this is quite time consuming and an art in itself!
I recently moved into a new house so maybe a custom built cabinet would be in order!. Any ideas about interior lighting? Most cabinets become quite dark unless you have glass shelves. Lighting can also create quite a bit of heat.
Any ideas there??
Cheers

Why not buy a all glass cabinet like this
i don't know about the heat of the inside lightning (you may find some with LED Lights) and the depth is mostly only 30 cm, but that's the way to go i think.
Cheers
