Ok guys, I've spent the past couple of hours taking pictures of our new M1114's. I am going to upload all of them to Don B's Primportal here in a little while, but i wanted to give you all a little tast of what I took. It's an iteresting configuration.
Here are some of the automotive guys adding the side mirrors and other stuff. After everything was added, they took each one out for a test drive.
here is the interesting part, the AC Unit's are under the right and left rear fender well.
I am pretty sure Don will let every know when there are uploaded and ready to view later tonight.

AWESOME. My question is why the AC unit changed location and are there now two? Also, is this changing the designation (M1114A_)?
I also noted that the wall between the cabin area and the trunk is different.
Do you know what upgrades are being put on them?
Jeff

Jeff,
I'll go and look on the data plate here in alittle while and get the exact nomenclature.
Yes, there are two units or compressors. Out back on line are the rest of them. Next to the hard tops are some that are going to carry shelters and they are designated M1152's.
They are not adding modfications Jeff, just adding the side mirrors and stuff that is in the boxes. When they are shipped from the factory, the stuff like the manual, tools, vehicle jack, straps, etc. come in the boxes. They are preped and test driven before they are issued to the units.

I'm quite sure that this is not an M1114, but rather the new M1025 version of the HUMVEE.
If you take a closer look at it, it looks more like a M1025 than an M1114. The windshields don't seem to be the balistic glass on the up-armored, and the doors look like the ones off the M1025's and are not armored. The half wall also form a M1025. The gunners turret is built wrong to be an M1114, and there is no halon system as in the M1114's. If you look at the back view to the inside of the crew compartment, you will see that there is also no harness system for the gunner, as in the M114's. The reason that the M114's have a full wall in the rear is b/c the of the up-armor package that surrounds the crew compartment. I'd have to get a look at the inside of the drivers windows, and doors. Though I am positive that this is just the new version of the M1025 and not the new M114.

Just to let you know Mike that my Brigade is slated to GO AGAIN in 08' . We are going through transformation from a heavy division (49th AD) to a light infantry division (36th ID) and getting new equipment is part of it.
I have friends over there too, as a matter of fact, my step brother and my cousion where over there and my step brother wants to go back. UNFORTUNATELY I CANT VOLUNTEER TO GO UNLESS MY UNITS GETS MOBED BECAUSE I AM A TECHNICIAN FOR THE STATE. I don't want you think that i am some "WEEKEND WARRIOR," I've doen my time, active duty from 89' to 95' and was there during ODS. Remember, we are one team and how the Army decides who gets what is up to the big wigs and I have no clue how they decide that.
I just wanted to share some pictures of new stuff to those who can't play around with the real things like we can.

Well after thinking about it, I edited my post, I was wrong in that. I have been over there and was extended for over 4 extra months, now my old battalion and all my friends just got extended for a second time. They went twice in less than a year and have been extended both times. So, sorry about that. But if you read my repost, you will see that I have pointed out that they are not M1114's but rather the new M1025's.

Ok, Mike is correct. I just went and confirmed it. The correct nomenclature for it is a M1151. It is a slimed down version of a M1114. The new operators manual has both the M1113/M1114 and the M1151/M1152 covered in it. There is a suplamental armor package for it and when it it is applied, the designation changes to M1151P1 and M1152P2.

I am assuming that the reason for sliming it down is because of the weight of the shelter? And if this is a shelter carrier, why is there the roof on the top? On that note, do they armor the shelters now?

Ok, so if they don't armor the shelters (mind you the most obviously striking part of the shelter carrier) then what is the point of armoring it in the first place?

Cool--a new variant! I wonder how long it will be before AM conversions come out to build an M1151.
Epi--do you know what the armor package looks like for these babies?

Jeff,
I think you might be a little confused. The pictures above are of the M1151. I did take a couple of pictures of the M1152 and they will be on Don's sight. The difference in the two are of course that the 51 is a "turtle back," and the 52 will have nothing in the cargo area except a frame that hold the shelter. the guys hadn't gotten to any of the 52's, so i didn't get to see what was in the boxes. They didn't have a cover, either hard top or soft top of the drivers and passengers seats.
Lucus,
We only have the operators manuals for now with each vehicle, so I coudn't see what the armor packages look like. Oh, and we didn't get any armor packages either. But I assume that the up armored doors would be included in the package since the doors on them know are regular doors.

Yeah those are the new M1151's
Supposed to give the Army and Marines more flexibility as far as deployments go as well as fixing most of the performance and handling short comings found in uparmoring the basic M998, M1025, etc

Man I wish the HMMVs I drove had A/C. Guess that why I drove the ambulance when we had road marches at Knox.
HMMVs are designed to convert from one configur, ation to another so the Dual A/C setups could have been put in for an updated ambulance varient or have seperate ductiing for the front and rear compartments without the cost of designing seperate vehicles. just swap the top at the factory and presto.
