Hello friends,

I'm having a bit problem mixing acrylic paint. I have been using Testors Model Master because they are the only ones I've found that use RLM numbers, which makes it easy for a newbie like me to get the right color when I'm doing Luftwaffe and other stuff. The problem is these paints settle more than the others, and shaking them gets old fast.

Suggestions?

Mixing paint should always annoy James Bond.....

Stirred not shaken... :-)

Apologies for the terrible joke but I think you get the idea.
So please stir from now on - don't make me come back here armed with an even worse joke!!

Thanks for the tips guys!

I have tried the stirring thing, but it seems that I spill more paint than I should
I also put small glass beads in the bottles I use most, but again the Testors stuff still seems resistant to getting itself pulled together when shaken. Robart paint shaker? I will be looking into that for sure.

AndyD, please do not assault us with any more horrible, horrible jokes and I promise not to treat my paints with such disrespect.

Heres a suggestion.

If you have a dremal hand tool get some of those q-tips made with the long wooden sticks like the doctors use. cut the tip off then cut the wooden rod left just a bit longer than your bottle is deep.. take a hobby knife and on one end slice the rod on 2 sides so you have a flattish end..

Chuck it into your dremal and mix.. at 7500 to 15000 rpms this stirs up the paint well and quickly..

Also an in bottle hobby paint stirrer battery operated from micro mark or you LHS works well..

P.S. I had the Robart paint shaker, personally for me it was a little on the noisy side.. took a lot longer to get settled bottles of acrylic mixed and after about a year of use the darn thing burned out its motor....just my 2 cents worth..
