Hi to all in the modelling world.

Would it be asking to much to try and change a figure that i am creating at the minute. The figure is 1/16 scale of the german machine gunner in long coat. I was thinking of changing this into a figure from the apline/mountaineer section, but dont know how to start, is just as simple as changing in the paint, ie instead of grey over coat, change to camo with pattern etc or is ther more to it than that. Any help would be great, even if it is tell me that this is a none starter.

I'm afraid it may not be as easy as one would think... For starters the Alpine troops wore the alpine ankle boot with gaiters, whereas the MG'er wears the tall marching boot. I also don't recall seing any pics of the alpine troops wearing the greatcoat, as they were issues with anoraks and windbreakers. Lastly, I don't recall seeing any pics of them wearing the stahlhelm, as they were typically issued with field caps. Of course this is not to say that they were never issued or wore this equipment...

If you really want to do an alpine fig DML makes one in 1/16 scale, it's not a great fig, but alot closer to what you want. It is kit #1614 German Mountain Troops 'Handschar' These are the Fez wearing troopers, but that can be left off and replaced with a helmet, or convert to a bare head or add a field cap.
