Hi,
I’m recently back into the hobby after several years away, so this may sound like a silly question asked a hundred times before.
What is the best matt varnish as a final coat?
I currently use Future after the main coat (base coat and camo) to seal, and then add decals. I then use oils to carry out washes/filters and then use pigments etc to weather.
Would I then use an enamel or acrylic matt varnish to finish?
Last question…honest.
What matt varnish would you recommend (available in the UK)?
Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark, I use Future (Klear) mixed with a little Tamiya Flat Base X-21.
I usualy do a 10 parts Future to 1 part Flat base for totaly matt finishes or 14 parts Future to 1 part Flat base for a slightly satin finish.
With the 10 to 1 mix you can realy see it suck the Gloss out of the previous coat and ive found it works fine on both Acrylic and Enamel paints but i always give Enamels plenty of time to dry before using but if your already using Klear for your gloss coat you should be fine using it for your matt coat anyway.

Hi, I just use a Syringe to measure out the quantities, 1 Mil of X-21 and 10 mil of Future and your set.
