This is a review of the soon to be released Firefly Vc from DML in 1/72nd scale. An extraordinary model which, for the doubters amongst you, demonstrates just how sophisticated (and viable) 1/72nd scale has recently become. The review can be seen:

I have a couple of them on order. Too bad they didn't fix the suspension arm issue. Oh well. The rest of the kit looks fine.

Thanks for the review, Jim.

As far as the critics of the DS tracks, I'd venture to say that most of these critics haven't tackled them. I've put together a Sherman and a Stug IV and find them to fit very nicely and glue easily,....can't beat that combination!

You know, with these 1/72 tanks I actually switched scale... Everything is soooo expensive in 1/35, also it takes up a lot of space and takes forever to build. With these tiny AVFs which rival their 1/35 brothers in detail I can actually build most of the AVFs I'd like to for 10 bucks for each in no time, and leave only the most desired types to be built in 1/35... (I'd love to build all the variants of 251 halftrack series in 1/35 - this way at least I can have some on my selves.)

They DID fix the suspension arm issue! Check the photos in Jim's revew closely and you will see that arms were repositioned.

My feelings exactly. The quality of some of these newer 1/72 models is outstanding, and with the likes of AB Figures providing us with quality figures to go with them, the choice for me is easy - especially as an allied modeller, where there is so much more variety and choice thanks to the likes of Cromwell & Milicast. A resin DD Sherman or whatever only costs about a tenner rather than 60, 70 quid.

Like you said, you can assemble a 1/72 tank in less time than it takes to put together your tracks in 1/35

Jim, thanks for the review, I've already got mine on pre-order from Hannants and I await more Sherman variants with baited breath

They DID fix the suspension arm issue! Check the photos in Jim's revew closely and you will see that arms were repositioned.

Pawel,

I did look at the picture closely and compared it to sprues from the M4A1 and M4A3(76). I also compared them to about thirty different pictures of VVSS suspensions. And at least to me, it looks like the arms still hang too low. If they did any correction, it looks like they only brought them up half the distance that they should be. Can you post a better picture of the "corrected" arms?

Jim,
can you show how instructions show usage of extra armour parts? DX06 version shows them as unused.

And one more about the pistol port. Can it be applied to Carole version turret or is turret mold actually different?
I have absolutely zero knowledge of Shermans so that's why I ask so much

Okay. That looks better. The angle of Jim's review pic made it look like the arms still hung down too much. What also affects the look of the bogies is the lack of bolts on the bottom of the bogie bracket (see black arrow),

The bolts would further hide the bottom of the arms.

I'm looking forward to getting a couple of these kits.
