Now I'm wondering if this smoke discharger is also placed on US Shermans? Specifically the M4A3 76W. I'm working on my BOB M4A3 76W and noticed a smoke discharger part, but it was not written in the instructions to place it.
Second:

I also noticed that the track links were placed on Fireflies. Were there some Allied M4A3 76W outfitted with this supposed-to-be add-on armor?
Thanks!

The item you have circled is a fire extinguisher bottle and was standard kit on Shermans issued from British stocks. They were not used on tanks in U.S. service.
As for tracklink armor, it appears much more common on British and other Allied Shermans than on U.S. ones. The U.S. tankers in the ETO seemed to go more with sandbags and extra plate more than anything else.

Gday Ralph
have seen M4A3(76) with the track links as extra armour, but they are few and far between, as Chris has stated... They were almost always around the turret flanks in the pics I've seen...
Now get some pics of the build up and running for us!
Cheers

I'm not sure where you got that photo, but I'm pretty sure it's not a Firefly. The box on the back of the turret doesn't look like the heavy welded boxes of the Fireflies, but rather a relatively standard sheet metal stowage box.
You can see the hinges along the rear edge of the box and the Firefly boxes defintely didn't have these.
Is this Sherman at the Canadian War museum? The background looks rather familiar, but may museums are using this sort of display method, so I'm not at all sure. If it's the tank I'm thinking of I think it's a standard M4A4 (Sherman V).
