Has anyone built a Mirage Renault UE with a rocket laucher before? It was a captured French tank converted by the Germans into a rocket launcher I know I'll have to get replacement links probanbly I can get one over at squadron.com for $8.46
I just don't want to waste my money on a kit if it's a real bad buildI don't mind a challenging kit,but I don't want to end up scratchbuilding half the kit because of warpage or the kit has really bad detail
I looked at the Friulmodel and Model Kasten list and couldn't find replacement tracks

Chad--You aren't going to find indy links for that guy. Unfortunately, no one makes any. I have never seen the kit myself, but there is a review of just the plain Mirage Renault UE over on Squadron's site (http://www.squadron.com/old/Renault%20UE%20Review ). The guy that wrote that review said that the kit was a nice one and he did a good job with it.

Chad,
Any of the Mirage Renault UE chassis based kits will have link and length tracks. I have several in my stash. I had started one, kit #35307. I don't know what it is called, the name is in Polish, but I buggered the tracks due to my haste in assembly. Over all, the kits do require dryfitting before gluing, but are not bad. Typical 5 piece hull assembly and the running gear is small and fiddly. But the whole series of the UE.chassis look to be an interesting build.
Just take your time with the tracks, and always dry fit.

Chad--Unfortunately, I don't think that link is going to work. I just checked the actual link and looked at the other reviews and it seems that they screwed this one up. The link is pointing to the wrong place. I have emailed them in regards to this broken link, but who knows if they will actually fix it.

I know for sure that the rocket launcher version wasn't used during Barbarossa and from what I was reading no foreign equipment would be appropriate for Barbarossa. The Germans only began using this stuff in major theatres when their industry couldn't keep up with the demand that loses were placing on it. The initial stages of the Eastern Front used top line equipment and captured French, Polish, British, etc. stuff was definately not top line. This stuff would have been in use in places like Yugoslavia during the time frame of Barbarossa. It wasn't until after the tide turned at Stalingrad that the Germans were forced into placing this captured equipment into use in earnest.

Chad,
I don't know if you are a member of AMPS or not, but on the back page of the July, 1999 issue there is a review of one of the many Mirage/RPM Renault UE kits. If you don't have it, let me know and I will scan and email to you.
BTW, did you get the article I emailed last week?
