I recently bought several kits as a package deal, among which was a Revell (Germany) 1/35 Leopard2A6. I've read some reviews about the Tamiya kit, but haven't seen anything regarding the Revell kit on the net. Has anyone here built it? How good are the fit and detail? Any issues I should be aware of? Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

Same page as above, but translated into english for the non-German speakers.

Good read.

I built the Italeri version, the Revell one itīs the same but with different decal sheet. Also have the Tamiya Leo 2A6 in the stash...so I can give you direct opinion about it.

The Italeri /Revell kit its very good, but not at the same standard of Tamiya. Have some fitting issues in the joint of upper and lower hull, that will need a very careful assembly or have the putty right next to you.

The detail itīs very good, but again not at the Tamiya standard. No transparent parts for periscopes and stuff like that. Dimensionally, are almost the same size. The Italeri kit certainly would benefit of some AM parts. A bonus itīs that the Italeri kit has an extra sprue with some parts to make the Dutch version, but no instructions are included (among those, are a MAG and smoke launchers).

All in all, itīs a very decent kit and certainly will look as a Leo 2A6. And the best of all, the price itīs about 2/3 of the Tamiya (at least here in Chile), so with a little effort, could be turned into a very nice replica of the real one.

Hope it helps a little.

Cheers

Thanks for the help guys. Miloslav and Ryan--I read the machine translation of the German review (my German is a bit rusty ) and it seems to agree with what Klaus's impressions of the kit. Klaus--thanks for the thumbnail review, you've hit all of the main points that I was wondering about and in far better English than the Google translator software!

I've decided that I'll add the kit to my stash (which is now in the double digits with the Leo and Paladin I just bought). It will provide a bit of variety to my rapidly growing collection of modern US vehicles.
