New T-55 kit is built. Just finished. Now the fun part!
Only took three nights of building and not too many hours at each sitting. Goes together well as the engineering is very nice. Some very minor fit issues and very few ejector marks to take care of. Only a few places where I think the detail could use a bit more attention. Certainly state of the art when it comes to a plastic model.
The version I built didn't have the DShk on the turret and that's a bummer because it looks very well done. Think I'll put it together anyway!
Am going to stick to the kit tracks with this one I think. Will use indy links when I do another, and by that time I hope a PE set will be out.
I recomend this kit to anyone with an interest in modern armor. This is also a great kit for begining modellers. Even though there are some small parts, the kit is so well designed that it makes up for any other complexities.
The T-55 has been used all over the place and there is no end to the variations you could model. I'm going to try and do a very weathered Afghan version.
As it sits on the table now, it just looks 'right'. I'll let it dry for a day, give it a bath and then start with some paint. I know the painting and finishing is going to take much longer than the build!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, since the Leo 2A5 and the Type 90, Tamiya kits have been the best engineered best fitting, best molded kits I have ever found.
That T55 is almost a 'throw in a tube of glue and an x-acto blade and shake the box twice " kit.
Worth every penny!
Other than my mistake with an imporperly mixed bottle of Khaki drab and needing to paint twice, no snags at all..
I bought 3 and will buy more as the aftermarket floodgates open.
