Ola fellas

I have one question for all the Iwata users here on this forum. When you take off the needle and nozzle cup and look at the nozzle you can see how the needle sticks out of it. When you press on the trigger the needle moves back. And now my question: when pulling back the needle does it move centered all the time or does it lean a bit to the sides of the nozzle? A picture might show it better:

The needle on the left moves back centered, and the needle on the right is a bit leaned to the side of the nozzle. It looks like there's some free space in the needle chamber inside of the airbrush and the needle has enough room to actually move crosswise, thus leaning to the left sometimes and leaning to the right when I release the trigger. When I move the trigger up and down the needle moves a bit inside and it touches one side of the nozzle when I press the trigger and the other side when I release the trigger. Is this normal?? It's a movement of around 0,1mm but you can see that the needle is not perfectly centered in the nozzle. I'm not sure what to think of it.

Thanks for any help,
Cheers,
dsc.

Tom,
You must have binoculars for your eyes to see something so small:-)

I would roll the needle on a mirroe [flat true surface] and see that it is true with no bends. However the airbrush will have been tested at the factory, you will have probably got a test spray sheet in the box; also from the spray pattern pictures you showed and if you are getting nice lines etc, I would not worry, unless something is going wrong.

Thats just my thoughts, to be truthful I have never looked at mine that closely. I always think that we can all get worried over something and then tend to look for a problem, which keeps making it worse, when sometimes nothing is wrong.

I also noticed the same thing with my HP-C. I asked on several forums and the answers that I recieved all said that this is normal. As long as the spray pattern is not effected don't worry about it, even the micron does this. As a second piece of evidence that this is normal, they recomend turning the needle every so often to reduce wear. This wear must be from the needle rubbing against the side of the nozzle. Happy Painting Greg.

Ola guys

Thanks for your replies:)

I googled for this and found this topic on the finescale modeler:

http://cs.finescale.com/forums/689466/ShowPost.aspx

They also say it's normal and doesn't do anything bad. I was afraid that I bent the needle while cleaning the AB, but realised this was not the case as the AB painted well, without any signs of smth being wrong with it.

So back to painting:)

Cheers and thanks,

dsc.
