Very nice!
Question,...can you assemble the power pack as it would be during an engine change? Was thinking of a dio with the Abrams and a M88A1 pulling out the pack.
cheers

Quoted TextThat would be tough to do using the above pictured kit. There are several access doors and panels that would be opened or removed for an engine being pulled out. These would have to be reworked and interior detail added to the inside of the doors and hatches as well as items added to the compartment itself.Very nice!

You can do that, but I would strongly suggest that you use the DML M1A1 AIM tank, if you don't than you will have to do a hole lot of cutting, not only to open the rest of the rear deck pannels, but also the to open the grills in the back. If your going to do that, also look into getting a battery box. Most times the battery box pannels are open too...
In this is CMK set not absolute perfect because be absent battery box and no possible open next doors
(DML)
1st off your model looks great. I should have said something above, sorry that I didn't...Quoted Text

I'm not sure what you mean. I know that there is no battery box in the DML, and that one would have to be added, (verlinden makes one in their M1A1 detail set, though thats about the only good thing in it, but has to be modified) You would also have to add the V-Pack (air cleaner) compartment.
The V-Pack doors would have to be modeled open, along with the battery box, the "bitch plate" would be placed on top of the rear deck it self when they lifted it off. Then the rear deck would be placed on the ground. I don't know if the M-88's come with the lifting tool (can't think of proper name of it right now) used to hoist the engine out of the tank, and if it don't than you would have to make one.
Also you would have to cut out the access plates in the back rear (bottom ) of the hull, as that is how you remove the saddle bolts that hold the engine in place, and if hte engine is out of the tank, then these would be open. If you really wanted to be accurate then you would also have to modify the rear sprokets to show the final drives (take off the final drive cover plates.)
Hey Michael,
i was under the impression that the engine was pulled out not lifted out? Is it not true that the engine is removed through the open doors on the rear plate? I remember reading a build article in AFV Modeller where the author stated that the engine was removed through the rear doors......is this wrong or can it be removed both ways, lifiting and pulling?
