I saw some interesting subjects at militarymodels.com by a manufacturer called Alan Hobbies. Has anyone purchased or built any of these? I've never heard of them before and am interested in the qualtiy.
TIA...Kevin

I've got several Alan kits, the Bison II and the Wespe. Both appear to be decent kits, although the panzer experts will tell you which ones should be passed on. I'd venture a guess that they would tell you to pick up the Tamiya Wespe instead of the Alan kit. Typical Eastern European/Russian kits, they have fairly thick parts but are nicely detailed.

I've got an Alan BA-20 Armoured Car in progress... thick parts, poor fit in places, but not too bad for the price, as I paid about 8 bucks for it, and paid 12 bucks for BA-20 from another manufacturer that was about as bad

Alan' s quality has come a long way in recent years. Their newest kits (Grille M, Panzer I Ausf. F, and Panzer II Ausf. J) are pretty darn nice kits. Not Tamiya, but a step above the typical Eastern European manufacturer.

I have a Wespe and am just waiting on the package of glue from EPI to get started. Picked up an Eduard PE set and Jordi Rubio barrel to round it out. Will let you know how it is. It looks ok so far.

Hi Kevin,
I've built several of the Alan kits in the past and wouldn't hesitate to buy more. Sure some of the stuff isn't as pretty as Tamiya's and things do tend to get a little overscale in thickness in some parts, fixing minor problems is just part of the game. I have a Marder II that is waiting on an Eduard set. As far as barrels and all the little fiddly bits go, I usually use brass tube, brass and aluminum sheet stock as well as sheet styrene to provide the majority of the little extra touches that make an excellent model. I especially liked the Bishop self propelled gun that they put out, with a little care in the painting area and generous washes and drybrushing, you can develop a real little gem that everyone wants to look into and check out.
