I“m in the progress of building the Tamiya 2.5t truck - splendid kit by the way ... - and was wondering, is there any pics showing the truck with names etc. painted on - like with tanks ?
I have searced IWM, british Pathe etc. with no luck.

Hi there
It might be very possible that the crew named their trucks, as they did with their tansk (as you mention), half-tracks and (perhaps) jeeps.
The only name I've found is on a M16 half-track called "Warsaw Concerto". Sorry I hav'nt found on the net, but I've got in a book: US Army Uniforms Europe 1944-1945", by Laughlin & Langellier. You might get it at the public library.
Good luck with it.
Cheers

Can't recall seeing a truck with a name, though I suppose it's possible. Of course, in the case of a tank, the crew were more or less permanently assigned to it, and lived in or around one vehicle for an entire campaign, and would be inclined to personalize it. As far as I know, supply truck drivers tended to be assigned to a truck for a given run, but would have grabbed the next truck and load as it became available. Trucks that were permanently assigned to a combat unit, like a tank battalion's repair parts vehicle, might have the same driver for a more extended period, though.

I don't know about naming the truck itself but putting the names your your sweetheart near your station was popular.
