I知 thinking of getting Trumpeter M1A1 Heavy Armor Abrams w/ Mine Plow kit and was wondering how the plow attaches to this kit?
(If the plows parts are all separate or it some of them are molded onto tank parts?)
See I知 thinking of building it without the plow and then using the plow on a later project.

JW,
It is all seprate. I also think that the Trumpeter plow is better than the Tamiya and the Dragon's plow. If and when you are ready to get and build it, let me know. I have the TM for the mine plow. I am building a Trumpeter plow right know to put on my Dragon AIM tank. The TM helped out with some small missing details.

Thanks for the info Pete.
This may be a dumb question but what is the TM?
This will of course be for the Rumalyah Oilfield tank I asked about by PM.
I知 planing on getting the kit around the start of the new year but haven稚 decided yet if I値l go with this kit or try picking up dragon M1A1HA on Ebay.

TM= Technical Manual.
Sorry, I forget sometimes that there are some folks that know what us GI's are talking about. It's like Robin Williams in Good Morning Vietnam when he is usuing all the abbriviations to talk. My gril gets mad at me sometimes to when I talk to here in military talk, but she is learning.
Well, which ever kit you pick up, each mine plow still will need some work, Trumpeter's being the less work done.

Thanks Pete.
I don稚 know when I値l get around to building the plow itself. I have a Dio idea to use it on but probably won稚 get to that one for a year or more but if I think of it I値l let you know.
Also while I知 thinking of it I just stated cutting the wooden base for the OIF Dio.

Is this Abrams you are talking about the Marines one? That one with mine plow?
Iエm also wondering to get one of this USMC one but Iエd like to know more about this kit, like if there are some extra new trees, with OIF stuff etc.
Is this Trumpeter M1A1 HA USMC with mine plow a good kit? What different from the Trumpeter M1A2 kit is this kit? (I have an A2, so iエd like to compare)
Thanks!
Marcelo

The Trumpeter USMC kit has the USMC smoke launchers only. It has no other OIF upgrades or extra gear. It is the same basic kit as the M1A2, only with the M1A1 commander's cupola and the manhole cover to close up the CITV hole on the top of the turret. It is a pretty good kit.

So then does that mean this is the marine version of the tank?

If so I値l probably be going with dragon then as I need an army one.

Yes, the one you linked to is a USMC version. I believe it has the Army smoke launchers in the kit as well though.

Thanks Gino.
I take it the smoke launches are the only changed part on the USMC version then. (At least during the gulf war)

If by "At least during the gulf war'" you mean Operation Desrt Storm (ODS) '90-'91, no. The USMC didn't have any Abrams of their own during ODS, other than one training Bn at Camp Pendleton, which they did not deploy. They borrowed a Bn's worth from Army PrePo stocks and they still had Army smoke launchers on them. The USMC M1A1HC did not come about till after ODS. The only major changes it has are the smoke launchers and exhaust flange though.

What ho Chaps,
Bin reading all the corrospondance, got the Tamiya Abrams from operation desert storm and the Trumpeter mine plow left over from their Panther mine clearing kit (yes, you do get both the plow and the rollers in one kit !).Planning to combine both for a diorama.
My question to anyone out their who can help is do or will the marine corp operate the AIM model of the Abrams ?, coz this is the version i`d like to do.

USMC does use the M1A1 AIM, so Dragon's new one can be built as a USMC tank with the addition of Marine launchers.
I think the one in the link does have the USMC launchers.

Hi Gino,
Thanks for the info,i am planning to use a combination of the old and new Tamiya Abrams kits with the trumpeter mine plow.It will be a nice change to do an Abrams in NATO camoflage instead of desert sand.
