I'd like to ask others how they pain the tools on their vehicles?
Most of the metal parts in real life look dark grey with some brown mixed in, and metallic on the edges. I had some success with black base as well.

(I'm asking mainly because I wanted to try to pain tthem on the vehicle, and now I'm stuck. I just can't get the appropriate paint to the small details... and they don't really look convincing right now.)

Hi both,
Have you tried a dark basecoat (black or dark grey) and then powder some lead from a graphite pencil (just scrape the pencil along sone fine abrasive paper) and rub with a finger or use a damp brush to deposite the dust on the tool.
You can do the whole tool or edges as you wish.
I've had some good results with this method and think it looks MUCH better than drybrushing.
Happy Modelling
Tom

Sorry for the delay, my life got an interesting turn lately.
Tracks can be easy. You can read a lot about them in sticky topics and reviews, but basically, if you do german tracks, a basecoat of red-brown and a lot of washes +pigments + drybrush with steel or with a lead pencil.
Russian tracks are black. I haven't built american, british armor yet (they are on my to do list), and I don't recall what people recommend on those.
