MMI did a article on the Tamyia kit with pictures of it built also in the next issue a ex S.A.S.trooper wrote in stating he served in various conflicts where that vehicle was used.He gave the low down on how the real ones were loaded up compared to the model,makes some good reading. Ive only seen good reviews for the tamyia kit.

I built the kit several years ago and, as I recall, didnt have any issues with it. I don't have any pictures to post... not sure I would want to as it was one of the first models I built after getting back into modeling. I do look at it now and then and consider getting the kit to rebuild it. Enjoy!

Ive just re read theMMI article the modeller usedTamyia X17 with a touch of XF7 flat red for the base coat, then the centre of the panels was sprayed with just X17 pink then he highligted the panel further with X17 with a touch of XF55 deck tan. hope this helps.

MMI = Model Military International . The article about the Pink Panther Landie should be in the May 2006 issue...
You can even order this issue on their website :

hey clarkie,
here's one i did earlier this year
the base pink colour was quite tricky to get, but the end result looks better than my mediocre camera skills can show:
base cololur is 50/50 mixture of gunze sangyo mr hobby brown H7 and Hull Red H29. this looks purplish, but that's what pink looks like when darkened under shadows. Next, spray on H112 character flesh(2). you can lighten it with a bit of white.
hope this helps

Clarkie,
Read this thread on Missing Lynx where the Pink Panther was discussed. The kit needs some changes to be accurate for a mission deployed vehicle.
MMI= Model Military International magazine
Model Military International Issue 2 June 2006 called "Sneaky in Pink" of the Tamiya Pink Panther kit by Glen Bowen.
Model Military International Issue 5 September 2006 is what you need for the ex-SAS members' comments in a letter to the Editor on the build article.
Eduard also makes a photo-etched set for the Pink Panther.

I used Tamiya paint and brushed it on. It was your basic bottle of white with a few drops of red and a few drops of buff added. It came out a nice desert pink shade and I was very pleased with it and I'm sorry I can't remember the exact mixture. Here's another shot.....
I haven't seen the MMI article referred to elswhere in this thread, but I'd be interested to know what the SAS trooper's memories of the paint colour was. Pictures of the real thing 'in action' are rare as hen's teeth. There are many pics on the internet of collectors that parade their recreations around in military meets and shows, but I wonder if that shocking pink coulour is really what was used.......

yeah, I concur on this point, there was definitely a lot of speculative imagination used by me. but then again, this kit won't cost you too much and if you don't like the colour, just buy a second kit and do it again
