Well, after an adventure to the Dark Side of the Force, I decided to come back to the Good Side!
I'm on a roll now by clearing out my stash. This one being my LAV-25 i finished a couple of weeks back for the DAMOM:
My LAV-25
I took the LAV along with all the Think 180 Marine figures and added them to yet another Verlinden ready made base. The poor unlucky fellow on the ground is one of the Verlindens Dead Insurgents and the other EPW is from a Warriors set. I even added a little four legged friend from the Tamiya Modern Accessory set observing whats going on. As you can see, the EPW on the side walk is not painted yet becasue I wanted to show you all the dio since it was all done minus that figure.
So, in staed of going on and on, i'll just let the pictures tell the story.

Phew, I got really scared there for a minute when I saw your panzer thingie... :-)
Nice dio Pete. I like the little scene a lot. Seems to me like you have replicated a rather "normal" day in Iraq. Personally I have no problems with dead figures in a diorama, since death is a major part of all wars, and from the pictures it seems like you have made it rather tastfull without to much gore. Great work.

Yup Erik, I had a moment of insanity there, but i have come back to reality! Glad you like it. I wish I could keep the original size pictures to show all the detail real well. I thought I may of went a little overboard with the blood, but i guess it is ok especially since the MIG powders tone it down a little bit. I was going to put anothe dead insurgent up on the second floor of the building, but it already looks to crowded and the little puppy and the IED equipment is just enough.
I really like how the 11th picture came out. That was by mistake. It looks like the real thing.

Looks very good, Pete! And when you look at the entire diorama and the poses of the figures, I really do get the "story idea!"

DOGH, the story Peter???
Well, here is what I came up with. Of course, the obvious, the Marines managed to take out an ambush killing one insurgent and capturing another. The Marine pointing is the NCOIC leeting the squad know to clean up the mess so they can get moving. The radio man is calling for some one to ploice up the EPW that managed to stay alive. A small cache of IED equipment is oround the corner in the blow up building. The two other Marines are standing guard over the EPW and trying to get some INTEL out of him. The crew of the LAV is standing over watch for the squad on the ground.
Like Erik said, a typical day in IRAQ!

Very good, Pete. The low light pix you've shot trough the building look very realistic. Like real news pix. I would say that the street still looks a bit clean, especially in the corners of the kerb. I'd say there'd be a lot more junk from the ruined building, plus scraps of rubbish. Did the Lav come with an interior?

No David, no interior for the LAV. AEF Designs claims to have one, but I didn't want to get it with thier hit and miss reputation.
Yup, those two are my favorite pictures and to tell you the truth, those were taken by accident.

Oops, sorry I forgot to add that the woodland cam and the figs look excellent What colours will the POW be? I like the flash of colour from the KIA's civvie kit. Nice breakup of the military colours. How does the accessory set compare to Tamiya's Livestock set, Pete?

Are you talking about the little puppy from the Live Stock set? If so, I was comparing the two, cause i have them both, but i like the one from the Modern set becasue it looked more SCRUFFY, more abandoned out on the streets look than the other.
I'm not sure what colors I will be painting him yet. Gonna look around in the books to get some more ideas. I want to keep him like his dead friend as far as color wise. Lie you said, it breaks up the military colors a bit.

Wow that looks fantastic! I actually like the 12th pic of the figure through the opening in the building. Great build and the expressions/interactions between the figures looks awesome!

Armorjunior,
the expended brass casings are there, but the light and the distance I took the pictures makes it hard to see them.

Hi Pete
What a great Dio yoy have done here. The figures/ Lav and base are all great.
I really like when peolpe take the time do do all of these things really well.
One thing and it's more just to add a little colour would be a little poster on the wall or spay painted letters and maybe a coke can or newspaper in the street. These are just extras as your dio is a great piece of work.
Great Dio

Hi Pete:
Somehow I missed this originally. Nice dio. I too agree there should be more debris and rubble around.
The camo painting is well done. I have so many of these OIF figures waiting to be painted, but the thought of doing camo always makes me think. But doing it right makes it worth it.
