Hello all
Need help painting my first modern us troops. First attempt at camouflage patterns of any kind. Will be using Tamiya paints on 1:35 scale figures. Where do I start? What is the base color? HELP!

Start by not using Tamiya paints! They are fine to airbrush but horrific to brush paint. They dry so fast that with your second brush stroke the first stroke will come right up!

Switch to Model Master, Polly S, or Vallejo.

As for colors, if you use MM above, use Medium green, armor sand, maybe a NATO brown, and a flat black.

Then just study the uniforms and paint.

Here is a good article by our own Pete Becerra to get you started.

if you are going to attempt to brush paint tamiya colours i find adding water about 60% paint and 40 % water helps alot ,, as its been said if you try to paint straight from the pot , your second brush stroke will lift up the first leaving you with a horrible mess on your kit , you might have to add a few coats to get the depth in your colours ,, i know this will take a while but the old saying goes ,, a few thin coats is better than a thick coat ,,, good luck with the paint job ,, hope we see some pics of the finished job

i find straight flat black a little to dark especially on uniforms , i like to use very dark grey instead , gives a slightly worn look instead of brand new ,,, good luck again
