Greeting all,

This is an old Italeri 15 cwt I started to upgarde last year and then it got put to one side.

I was wondering if you thought it is worth saving and finishing off or should I just bin it. It suffered quite a lot of damage most but not all of which has been repaired.

I was thinking that with a fresh paint job it might be OK for one of the vehicles on pier 51.

Any thoughts? Apologies the pics aren't great.

Cheers

Al

Alan,

It looks OK. But if you decide to bin it. Send it my way please.
I am sure I can find some space on the shelf for it.

Cheers

Its a pretty decent kit, even if its rather old, i think a new paintjob, and maybe a tarp would make it worthy of Pier 51. Dump the chain though, looks a bit out of scale - and go light on the wheatering, since the truck haven´t seen battle.

Hi Guys,

OK I'll go ahead and try an get it finsihed off properly.

Daniel it had pretty much fallen apart with some of the smaller bits broken off or lost.

I hadn't built it that well to begin with so I spent a bit of time trying to fix it up and experiment with some painting. Then it got put to one side and never really finished.

I'll remove the chain which might be a bit BIG LOL, LOL and see if I can finish it off a bit better. They are a great little kit, If I can save it and reuse it that wll be one more vehicle completed.

Cheers

Hey Alan,
It looks pretty good to me.
My Dad served with the Canadian Scottish in Holland and I have some great shots of him standing in front of a rather beat up Chevrolet 15cwt truck.
At least one fender is bent or missing a part of it.
Unfortunately, I can't scan the picture and send it to you.
If nothing major is broken or missing, maybe do a dio of a damaged or abandoned truck.

Hi John,

Thanks for that. I've learnt a reasonable amount since I last worked on it so I will try and breath some decent life into it - they are a dapper little kit, I always loved the shape of the vehicle.

Thanks all, it will live to fight another day

Cheers

Hi Alan,
There's a fellow here in Vancouver that brings his restored 15cwt out for the November 11th Rememberence Day ceremony and then displays it afterward at the local 6th Field Engineers Armoury.
I usual take photos of it and any other vehicles that show up after the ceremony at the local cenotaph.
If I can get the pictures scanned, I'll forward them to you.

A great site I often visit is http://www.oldcmp.net/indexes.html
Lots of info on all sorts of subjects, not just Candian Military Pattern vehicles.
http://www.mapleleafup.org/vehicles/softskin/15cwt.html is also worthy of a visit.

Glad to see you're not junking the old model! :-)

Hi John,

Brilliant, if you can come up with any good reference pics of the real thing that's always both a help and interesting.

Hi Karl,

Al, the ankerchain need not be a loss, it does not even need to leave the vehicle. Just put it in the back, together with some other miscelanous ship supplies (some fishing nets? ).

Hey, I have models that look worse than that in my collection, what are you trying to say? :-) :-)

Cheers

Hi Henk,

Yip, I've been thinking about making it a Sanitary Vehicle pulling a Water Bowser???

I originally started to fix it when I first joined Armorama but set it aside when I saw the standard of other builds :-) :-) :-) . I used it for a bit of experimental painting but, as hopefully my skills are a bit better now I though I might be able to save it. It has survived all these years looking for a good home, so if I can get it finished and spruced up a bit it will fit in well with the others on Pier 51.

Cheers

Al
