Ola Guys
Now I have more or less finished my dio "Eiskalt..." I started working on a small kit that I got from "DIablo" couple of weeks back at an event. Not much of an allied builder but I always had something with this little bathtub on tracks.
The kit is from Extratech and is Full resin with a little bit of PE and a transparant piece of vacuform that you have to paint to get the canvas top.
Assembly more or less finished I don't really know when I'm going to paint it
Ok enough talk here are the pics
Did I forget something? Oh yeah I remember... the thing is small.... Veeeeeeery small. The M29 Weasel is not a giant itself but it is an ant in 1:72
As usual I'm very curious to what you guys think

Robert,
I'd say you have a "little" jewel there!
Can't wait to see it with paint.
I've always liked the weasel ever since I built the first
one from Monogram almost 50 years ago.
This vehicle gets very little coverage though she seems to
have been a real workhorse both in Europe and the Pacific.
A museum near here in Topeka, Kansas is restoring one
and I was lucky enough to take alot of close-up photos.
It was in pretty rough shape then and I haven't been back
for a couple of years now so hopefully it's in better shape now.
I've always wanted to take the old Monogram kit and rework it.
Please post some more shots when you get it painted.
You PE work looks awesome.
Best regards,
Gary

I built that kit as well, it was, as I recall, a lot fo fun, but the figures with it were just sort of blobs of plastic
.

When i was very little the 4th(?)ID at Ft Carson, CO had a few weasels in their motor pools. A few years later I ran into one at ft Lee VA in a park, we used to play on it. Another park there had an M16 Halftrack and, IIRC an M4or 5 high speed tractor. Those were fun days! I would love to see a modern kit, in 1/35th of the Weasel!

You got that right. We had an old 105mm how. in the park.
It's gone now. Never did hear what happened to it.
A new weasel kit (non-amphib) in 1/35th would be a winner in my book too!
Just someting about that stubby little vehicle that I like.
AFVisual #2 Pacific has 6 photos of the amphib version used by the Marines on Iwo.
Several are wearing the wavy camo scheme. Very cool.
I'm still holding my breath for the Ontos kit that someone is rumored to be working on.

Wow, Robert! What do I think? How do you DO that great photo-etch work at that scale?
For a minute, I was especially thrilled to see this thread and those outstanding photos. I was about to throw in the towel on my own nearly-failed Weasel scratchbuild and ask where I can buy this kit - until you revealed its scale. Mine is in 1/35th.
I started with the Monogram kit, but quickly realized it wasn't going to be suitable, so I started scratchbuilding it. It looks like a simple enough design, doesn't it? Even I, who have never scratchbuilt anything, should be able to do this. I've done some pretty darn good figure conversions, if I may say so myself. I've got multiple schematics and zillions of pictures, but the schematics aren't true mechanical drawings. If they were, I could simply measure unmarked dimensions and everything would work out - but so far, none of the math has added up to the dimensions that I do know.
Here are photos of two versions of this thing. The first image is my first attempt, which I was very pleased with until I realized that the dimensions were so far off:
The second image is the current version (#6, if anyone's counting!), which is much closer, but still no good. I'm about to toss it and start again:
Robert, on second thought, where do I get one of these resin kits? I was thinking of doing a 1/72 scene as well, someday... Anyway, please please PLEASE keep posting more pictures of this project
Gary - Any chence you could put me in touch with the museum in Kansas? Or at least share some of those pictures?
John - I've been to Fort Lee several times, but I never saw a Weasel there. Where was it? If it's still there, I could take my own measurements whenever I want. I found a guy who owns one in great condition here in Virginia, but it's two and a half hours away in the back corner of a dark garage. Not very convenient!
Thanks, guys!

John,
One of the members of our club lives in Topeka and is chummy with the museum staff. I'll get in touch with him and get you a contact there.
I'm finishing up our club newsletter that I edit and as soon as I wrap it up I'll prep the photos and post them or PM me your address and I'll burn a disk and send it to you. Like I said, it wasn't in great shape when I took the photos but they show some close-up details that should help.

Thanks for the replies
@ Armorjunior
I haven't exactly measured it up but I have seen pictures of somebody who placed a matchstick next to it and they were about equal in length.
@ Gary and John D
You guys are lucky... I know a museum here in Holland that has a total of 3 Weasels, Two normal both in winter camo as OD and an amphibious one... sadly the museum is more then 3 hours away from me and not something that I can visit very often. I also am looking for a decent 1:35 kit for years now. I know there is at least one good resin Weasel on the market but that thing costs 50 euro.
@ John (Jantkowiak)
That is a very nice scratchbuilt you got there mate. I have been thinking of buying a Monogram weasel and use that as a base to scratchbuilt it... I have never been able to get me a monogram weasel though.
the 1:72 kit is from Extra tech and I don't know any vendors of it in America. I know Mol Plasticmodelbouw in Holland sells extratech but they don't seem to have it in stock at the moment but an E-mail sent to them with the question if they could get the weasel should help you quite a bit on your way
