Hi all, I was wondering, does anyone have any spare infantry tank phones for a 1/35th M1A1HA? I'm building a USMC Abrams circa OIF1 using the Tamiya M1A2 kit, and don't want to have to scratch-build that part if I don't have to. Any help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Heh-heh, yep, wouldn't take too long to whip one up - Evergreen plastic is a wonderful thing. Main problem is, I'm pretty sure none of the kits out there (including the new AIM) have it anyway, so S/B is your only option.

Academys M1A1 OIF got it on the J-sprue. I used it for my Dragon M1A1 USMC version. But as the other guys says, it is a piece of cake to scratchbuild it.

I'm working on the new Tamiya kit, which doesn't have that or the BRE. I had to get a resin BRE from Gary Johnson here on Armorama, and ended up having to scratch-build the infantry phone box from the plastic card they give you for the flat CIP panels on the turret front. Actually almost finished with the thing, save for the vision block lenses for the TC's cupola and driver's hatch and the water bottles & MRE boxes.

Anyone have a diagram or drawing of the box, rather than just photo's to go from? I think that might help our budding scratchbuilders!

Here are the dimensions of the TI Phone box mounted on USMC tanks: 12" wide x 8 1/4" tall x 6 1/4" deep. The rear facing door has a piano hinge on the left side and a simple spring clip or wingnut style latch centered on the right edge. The power/control cable runs from the top right rear corner of the box into the hull where the right rear tail light conduit is. Happy USMC modeling. Out here.
