hello all,
Do you find it best to paint tools separately or on the vehicle? just returning to modelling after over 20 years, boy has it changed! but you lot have really changed my mild interest into a passion to really make my first AFV a good attempt, already managed to buy a year or two worth of stuff to build so my missus is giving me daggers
thanks
Clive

Clive,
An eternal question, I normally attach the tools and paint on the model as it ensures that I dont have to risk odd spots of glue marring the finish.
Obviously a steady hand is required but you can use things like thin card or post it notes to protect the surrounding area.
It really is one of those personal choice things, unless of course you can make the Aber PE tool clasps work and can fit the tools like on the real vehicle after painting.

I paint off the model, then attach. Any stray glue marks are usually covered with a spray of DullCote.

Ditto to above. I also find it easier and much better looking to do them separately and them add them back after the model is painted. Weathering and a dullcoat covers up and stray glue marks.

I paint of the vehicle as much as posible. It makes things a lot easier, the only real down side is the chance of grue marks on youre finished model and the gleu reacting with the piant, So I use two part 5 minit epoxy gleu. It doesn't fog -up (like super gleu) or react with the paint(like modeling gleu)
But thats my personal preverence
