i was lucky today and got part of the day off - to which I am updating Armorama!!
For my tree I have added a number of washes to the trunk do give it more depth and texture. They have been mixes of Tamiya Dark Brown/Dark Yellow/Black/White. No science to it just mix to get a color you like and then wash specific spots. I didn't do a full wash, just specific spots. i used a fine brush to do it.
I have gotten about 2/3 of the way through step 2 - Adding the base canopy. I am using woodland scenic lichen. I am using white glue to connect it. Again, no real science, just take bits and pieces and fit them to what ever satisfies you.
The light isn't great on these - three 60 watt bulbs about 2 inches from the tree.
Side 1 - Still needs to be filled in.
Side 2 - Filled in.
Image 3 - Here's a trick I'm trying for the first time. This tree is really big and the canopy is getting quite heavy both in weight and product used. The main branches leave big gaps. To span these gaps with just lichen was starting to worry me. So what I did was take a few pieces of hobby wire and make arches between the main branches. The lichen will sit on this and distribute the weight. Note: The two gold wires spanning the space from the left and back to the front right - the white dot is the glue drying.
More to come - Part III will be to go back in and paint the big thick lichen stalks brown to make them more like tree branches. Part IV will be to add parsley as leaves. I use arisol glue and sprinkle on parsley. Note: As noted in a previous post this method will leave this tree quite brittle and I will not be able to handle the leaves or canopy without risking cracking parts off.
Any comments

Thanks for the postive comments :-)
Belgian - the tree as it is now is about 9 tinches tall. I'll seat it about 1/4 into the dio base.
Matrix - are you going with the new PX for a 'store front'?? Let us know when your stuff is ready.
