Ok, last question:

I bought a Aztek model A470 (all steel) airbrush from a very nice dealer in Marlborough MA (Spare Time Shop). It was a display model so I got a deal, but it came with no box or instruction manual, just a VHS tape on how to use.

Being the modern man I am, I have no VHS player, just DVD, and can not for the life of me find any instruction manual on the net. Anyone got this they could photocopy or PDF? I would happily pay for time/effort. - or a DVD ready copy of the instructions.

I tried Testors, but they seem not to return my phone calls. Weird.

Thanks again,

Freddie

BTW: The unit works beautifully, but I am just afraid that I could easily mess it up!

To be honest with you when I owned the 470 the instruction sheet was just a piece of paper with very little detail. I would suggest finding somebody to lend you a VHS player as the video is very good and quite informative, more so than the sheet of paper.

Hey John!

It is a pretty nice unit and quite intuitive to use, seems to do an excellent job. I bought a nice little compressor to go with and just set it up. Will post my workbench soon.

My concerns are about cleaning and maintinence, making sure it last for years I hope. Worried about what to clean with if using enamels or acrylics, thinnners etc...

I reckon I can find a mate somewhere with a VCR to DVD or get a outside service to knock it into a AVI or such for computer playback.

Cheers & thanks for the help,

Freddie

Try this link: http://www.rlm.at/start_e.htm
Go to themes...then find:"The ABC of airbrush handling and cleaning".

I have an Aztek brush as well. As stated, the instruction sheet is pretty sad concerning the content. The video was useful, but again seemed relatively basic (it has been a while since I have watched it though).
I have found a site on Airbrushing which is pretty useful though; at least as far as the tips are concerned.
You can find it here: http://homepage.mac.com/srogers4/hobbies/models/airbrush/

Hey Pehed3

As far a maintaining the Aztec line of airbrushes goes it could not be simpler. What I do after I am done painting is just fill one of the paint bottles with straight thinner for what ever paint I am using and spray till I get clear thinner. After several projects I will soak the nozzle in thinner overnight and clean the barrel, were the nozzle goes, the ports were the color bottles go (use the red tool) and that’s about it. You my want to purchase a couple of new tips to keep on hand and the cleaning station, it makes a nice stand for the unit.

How strong do you recommend Aztek airbrushes ?
I mean they seem to be a bit frail and fragile... "sissy if you please"
Further the holding angle and hose connection is awkward imho. So if you users are fond and recommend it strongly I may as well consider one and try and get used to it.
