Hey all, here is my well, completed but almost completed LAV25... For the most part it's finished except for finding the parts for the coax and commanders machine guns... I used Eduard's PE set to update it with the wire cutters and such... Hope you like it, and if you are willing to part with the right parts to get the guns, please let me know... I moved and lost somethings along the way, and LHS' don't really exist here!
Sorry I don't have a proper backdrop, tomorrow!

Looking great. Good job so far. For the M240s, get the Dragon Modern MG set. It has 2 in it, one for the TC, and one to cut the barrel off for the coax. They are listed by thier European designation of L7A2.
You can order it at just about any on-line model supplier, I pefer Great Models myself.

Here is a photo of my unfinished LAV25. I used the same machine gun that Gino was talking about. O, one more thing, you may want to consider replacing the black jerry cans with newer type ones b/c those have been long gone. The DML M1A1AIM kit comes with two of new ones.

Very nice model. Good build.
The only comment I have is that the straps for the backpack at the side of the vehicle look unnatural. I think they would be more straight in reality and not conform to the surface of the pack.
Anyway, still a very nice replica of the real thing.
Are you planning a diorama for it? I can see you have it standing on some sort of base.

Current water jerry cans can be ordered in black, green, or sand. The most common is sand, but black ones are very common as well. There is nothing wrong with having a mix of colors either.
Plastic fuel cans are the predominant type as well, they are actually a field drab (light earth brown) color, not sand. The metal cans are still out there as well though.

so the fuel cans on the side of the body should be OD not black? Maybe paint the tops yellow, I'm not sure about the type of engine that's in the LAV...

David,
You may want to scratch build the new "scissor" type gun mount. I think I still have the page from the parts manual that shows the mount broken apart. I can send it to you if I still have it.
Here is what it looks like on my LAV with Hobby Fans M240 mounted in it.

Yes fuel cans were/are green. Yellow markings for diesel. The engine in a Lav 25 should be a Detroit Deisel 6V53 silver series 2 stroke.
cheers

Looks great. As I said in another post, I just think the mud pattern on the lower hull could have been done slightly better, but other than that, very well done.

I love it! The only thing I'd add would be: if there's enough mud to get on the hull and such, there's gonna be mud on the bottoms of the water cans from sitting them in it before they get mounted, and therefore a little bit on the water can brackets.
But that's a nit-pick, and you've done great work. Keep it up!
