I just saw this on a news article. Someone please tell me what this vehicle is. The news caption read that it is a British vehicle patrolling in Iraq.

cant remember the designation, but it looks like an idf version of the m113 used to explode ied's.....possibly lent to the brits..

It is not an M113. It is what appears to be an uparmoured FV 430. This version used to be used for APC, ambulance etc. by the british. Apparently it is still in use in Iraq and probably also other places.

The reason it looks so much like an IDF vehicle is that the company that did the upgrade is an Israeli company Rafael. Rafael did the AAV7 uparmour and IIRC IDF M113 uparmour as well.
Here's a pdf on the upgrade: "Rafael shows upgraded FV432"
Armyrecognition.com has a nice photo of the upgraded FV432.
Still haven't seen any info about reinforcing the underside of the vehicle against mines and IEDs.
The really scary thing is the new life expectancy of the FV432- beyond 2020.

This is the updated FV432 APC, consisting of a new gearbox, diesel engine and armour pacakge. The 432 has a double floor, and this provides better protection against Anti Armour mines.

Wow - I did not realise we still used FV432's!! With the Warrior I assumed these were not used anymore!
Does anyone make a kit of the 432??
Thanks

I agree, an FV432.
It is actually very easy to tell once you look at the square driver's hatch and the flat commander's hatch.

Looks very similar to the Canadian Lynx C&R vehicle.... similar roots maybe?

yes guys i concure this is a fv 432 with armour package , i used to drive a 436 which is the coms version , so no troop seats in the rear , all replaced with coms kit and map boards , you still have the bench seat on the left hand side as you look in from the rear door ,, as it has been said you can tell straight away by the drivers hatch and comanders cupola , even if the rest of the vehicle looks very different.take a look at the large drive sprocket at the front , very distinctive

BAE Systems are upgrading 500 FV432 to Mk 3 Standard, with the new name (if I remember correctly) of Bulldog.

When I first saw this, I thought for sure it was some kind of an M113 derivative. Thanks to all of you, the answer is an up armoured FV 432. I like this site for the information that otherwise would be difficult to find!
Cheers,
Gary
