Ian,
The easiest way I found to replicate the periscopes on modern tracks is to use multi colored plastic party confetti.
That is waht i used on my M1 Panther II here:
Just cut it to shape and glue with regular white glue.
Gino has anpther good way of painting his periscopes by painting on silver first and then using Tamiya's clear paints. He answered some one elses quistion on this a few days ago, just go to Ginos profile and click on the topics he posted.
Oh, Ian, they actually change more colors than pink, from red to green to purple to the pink you are talking about. Just depends on the lighting and what angle you look at it.

The vision blocks are actually coated with an anti-laser coating. They do change color when vuewd form different angles. I generally keep them all a reddish color, as they look to me. I do this by first painting them black. Next I put on a coat of clear red over top. Lastly, I put a couple coats of clear gloss over top. They look great and change color from a red, to blue, to purple, etc. when viewed from different angles.
Guess Pete and I answered at about the same time. Both techniques are good ways. Hope they help. Good luck.

Great minds think alike SIR!
I like using your technique because cutting liitle confetti even smaller tend to get a little tedious. I did say my technique was the easiest, not the fastest.
