I am accumulating info on the Chieftain for my next armour project and found an old posting from swampfox about Tamiyas green/green scheme. The book 'Modern Combat Vehicles:1, Chieftain', by George Forty has a colour plate of a green/green scheme. Could be a bad colour processing by the publishers I suppose, but it looks pretty real.

Hi Dave,
what color plate do you refer to? The one on page 52? If so - it appears to be green on green. But chances are that it could be black on green too. Maybe the film wasn't the best quallity product.

hi there
it is posable that the photo was taken in canada at B.A.T.U.S. The scheme used over there is tan and light green / light green and dark green as these pieces of kit are part of the range holdings thay are a permanantly stationed at the range
hope this has helped

have seen a photp just like the one posted at the queen's jubalee in 1976 and as i was there i can tell you the kit is in n.a.t.o. black over olive green and the reson for the colour change is probily the use of keroseen and diesol oil to clean the kit for the parade

Its a bad colour photo! Chieftain was painted Olive Green - Black in Europe, or Olive Green - Sand at BATUS in Canada.

Thanks for the comments chaps. Nice pic Martin, Eddies comment about kero wash would explain the semi-gloss appearance. Looks like its black/green, sand or Berlin Brigade then.
