Hi Guys,
I am planning to build a M32 Recovery Vehicle. Basing it on the rather old Italari kit and I was thinking of replacing the Hull with Dragon's new operation Cobra M4A1, Would this be historically correct for a British vehicle in Italy during 1944.
Secondly Is anyone aware of an up date set for the Italiai Kit ?
Finally, does anyone know of good reference sources for the M32 in particular the British version in Italy, would they have been operated by the RAC or Engineers ? So may research beginning !!
Thanks in advance for any assistance,
Regards,
Jerry

Hi Jerry,
I have this in the pending build pile and have been gathering information about it. If you PM me you email address I'll send you what I have.
To the best of my knowledge these would have been operated by the Royal Engineers at Divisional Level and some REME LAD Detatchments at Units Level not the RAC.
There are some good reference pictures of Polish ones in Italy on IMW and the Polish Sirorski Museum SIte:

Re the hull I plan to use the Dragon M4A1 early hull, I don't know about the Cobra one as I haven't got the kit, but you need the small hatches.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Al

Jerry you need the earlier small hatch M4A1 or the M4. No war time M32s with the large hatch M4A1s were made AFAIK

Gday Jerry
I can give you a little help...
To the best of my knowledge the M32 was based on the early M4 hull which of course had the small hatches...
Option would be to get the Tamiya M4 for the M32, or the DML M4A1(75) if possible for the M32B1...
Not sure about the rest though!
Cheers
Brad
::EDIT:: I had to go to the loo, but otherwise would have posted first ;-)

Excellent thread. If anyone can forward me any information on the m32 that they have, it'd be super. That one has been sitting in my to-do pile for a while.
Off another forum, a similar topic was posted a while ago, and from that, see if you can get anything useful:

Quoted Text
WW2 editions used the small hatch, 57 degree slopewelded hulls or M4A1 cast hulls.
Here are some photos of an M32A1/B1, a postwar variant.

What you need is the M32 tech manual . It's available in CD format from Mike at Easy1 Productions
