Yes that is right.....my first finished kit in abot 10-12 yrs....well actually I was away from the hobby for that long, and this is the first finished since I have gotten back into it.
Essentially it is a Hungarian BTR-80, painted in the NATO 3 color scheme, as Hungry is one of the newer memebers of NATO. Painted with Tamiya Acrylics. A light drybrushing on the weld seams and handles and such, and then washed with a pastel/water mix on the lower hull and wheels, and then dry pastels on the upper hull to give it that dusty look.
Will post a couple of pictures:
Here,
And here,
And one more,
And the rest can be seen at MSN Armorama at Viper29_ca's Pics
Let me know what you think!!
Some of the stuff like the tent rolls and what I would call sleeping bags, I got from this site, with the article on making tent rolls....I still need a bit of practice at making them....but I don't think they turned out so bad...as well the barb wire also came from an article on here....although I am not really sure how I should attach it, or really where to put it. I was going to put it on the back...but then it would interfere with the operation of the propeller door....so didn't make sence to put it there. Any ideas?

OK.......not really sure what I did wrong....but the pictures aren't coming up on the thread.
Can someone walk me through how to link it so the picture comes up on the thread.....or can that not be done using the MSN Armorama picture groups?

That is one nice kit. It's like a fine wine, it aged well - 10 years well.
Very nice detail, great concertina wire and bed rolls etc. Great weathering. I like it a lot.

Nice work...I know what a pain this kit can be. Those "working hatches" need a lot of help, and the fit on some of the parts is not the best, so when someone looks at the BTR series from DML, they should take into account the work it takes to make a nice replica out of hte kit, even with the eduard PE set.
I will try to post my pictures of my BTR-80 SSS and 2S23 Nona once I have them done.

Hey, it worked! I usually have trouble with Tripod, but not this time...great. See my old, ugly work, built LLLLOOOONNNNGGGG Before that 1/48 monstrosity they produce now.

Back in 2000 I was lucky(unlucky, depending on how you look at it) to be deployed to Bosnia in support of Operation Joint Forge. We ranged the whole country, and spent a lot of time in the Nordpol and russian sectors too. We were invited by our Russian Counterparts, the Russian MP's, to their camps in Uglievik (pronounced Oo-gla-vik) and Priboj (Pree-boy), or Camp Uglyvik as we called it, to a range to fire their weapons. I got some good video of the BTR-80, and actually got to fire the 14.5mm KPV. What impressed me the most was how quiet they were. I picked up the BTR-80 when I got back, but never got around to building it... I guess now I will!!! GOOD JOB!!!
