For which one, the Trumpeter? I thought they (Trump) were releasing this by the end of the year, maybe early January. Man, I've had this kit on pre-order with SprueBrothers for about 6 months now and it's still not out. Maybe I should consider canceling the order and wait for the Dragon one to come up.

There have been three Strykers announced by Trumpeter (the first to announce), AFV Club and DML..

Sorry, I was thinking of the Trump offering, but actually since I'll be converting to a Canadian LAV III, I'll take whomever comes out first!
Thanks

HI
hahahha which one? Trumps was due in Dec but pushed back until March. IIRC none of the others have given release dates. First there were none and now there are three.. makes you wonder.

Yep!! That's exactly what I thought when I found out that AFV and Dragon announced that they would be making one. Anyway, I cancelled my order since I found out that they were also (besides extending their relase date) raising the release price here in the U.S to about $40 instead of the $25 initially reported (this info came from Sprue Brothers).
For 40 or more dollars I thought I much rather take my chances with Dragon or AFV on this one.

I agree, Trumpeter cannot run with the big boys and demand the same price they want, yet. Though I think the Stevens International is the one raising prices.

Totaly agree there Scott. I am certain that Stevens Intl are the ones rasing the price. I thought $25 was a good price for a Trump kit, but now that they're up to $40, it's time to switch gears and wait for the big boys to decide when they are going to release one. As mentioned, not trying to critcized Trumpeter or anything here (have plenty of their kits in my stash) but for $40, I am covinced that I will get a way better product from Dragon and AFV.
Take care,
Rob

Off the top of my head, I would imagine that Trumpeter will be first with the Stryker. As they have actually shown a mock-up of the model, I would imagine they've done a lot of the basic master.
I doubt that either the AFV Club or DML ones will be ready anytime soon - both of them will have to do a master from the wheels up. Remember the DML M1a1? The initial plans were to work with existing components. What actually happened was they re-did EVERYTHING from scratch - exactly what they'll have to do with the Stryker. My guess (based on no information whatsoever) that we'll see them around april/may 2007.
Whether or not DML actually do one is also a moot point.....

Jim,
Your contradicting yourself, the Trumpeter "kit" shown was a mockup, which according to some people had a lot of errors on it. The kit was supposed to come out this month, but has been delayed, which I'm assuming is so corrections can be made.
Theres no saying that either AFV Club or DML haven't been working on the Stryker since the middle of this year or something with better references or so (at least in DML's case) and since they are clean-sheet designs that started with better research then the Trumpeter kit did, they won't have to be delayed since they where "right" to start with and thus be released come next March/April like their manufactures stated. No one expected the DML M2 Halftrack untill it hit the table in Euro in September, and it was in our hands last month. I think DML still has the edge when it comes to a better quality (more accurate) kit then Trumpeter, and AFV Club normally nails accuracy on Modern kits pretty well also. Trumpeter is good, but at a price of $40 bucks, it better be dead nuts on. Trumpeter has made good kits at good prices, but if they start charging $40 on new releases that have issues with them (which can be overlooked at $25), they will shoot themselves in the foot.
BTW, the M1A1 AIM wasn't a compete redo, the tracks where carried over from the Panther mine clearing kit.

I can't speak about AFV Club, but I as far as i've been told, DML haven't been working on the Stryker since the middle of this year at all...

Jim,
Well, for me anyway, I rather wait as long as it takes for either DML or AFV to do the Stryker now that the Trump version will be sold here in the US for around $40. I initially pre-ordered the Trumpeter kit when I saw it was going to go for about $25 (which I think is fair for the quality of their kits), but now all that has changed. It's a shame since I know people would have liked to have a Stryker (me included) for that price, but, hey, let's be happy we get anything at all.

Is it the price, or is it a certain 'nervousness' about the 'finesse' of Trump's products? I must admit to not exactly turning cartwheels over the thought of Trumpeter doing the M3 Half-tracks. On the other hand, when they do (clunkier ) Soviet equipment, they do tend to do it better than anyone. I do feel that $40 is a little excessive - around double the price of the LAV?

I think it's both. And, you're right, when it comes to Soviet stuff they are surely the way to go.

Hey! No digs on the Soviet Stuff!
Trumpeter going to $40 is a problem when you take into account the LAV...perfect example. While it is better than the Italeri kit, it is not worth $40.
I bet Trumpy's Stryker comes out to modest sales if they still sell it for $40 and then they get discounted to the $18 range after a DML or AFV release...I think Stevens is just tryin to make some quick cash on the supposed early release of the kit. I get the feeling they took a bath on the Trumpeter M1A1 Panther II.
