Please.....can you describe tecnique and products that you use for weathering and your results?!
More or less the highlights are completed but I've some doubts about "how" weathered This Humvee...I would create a light shade of dry mud...any suggestion and comment about the will be appreciated.

Your Humvee looks great! I'm not sure how much you want to weather it though. The colors look very well as they are. DId you do a wash yet? Its kind of hard to tell from the photos, but it appears as if you have done a light wash. Assuming your wash and highlighting (drybrushing) is done, I would say the next thing would be making it dirty by using either pastel chalk or pigments. MIG has very nice pigments for adding dust or sand. You can either mix them with alcohol or turpentine and apply them like a wash, or simply dust them on with a brush or such. Generally, I apply mine with alcohol, let the wash dry, then use a stiff brush to even out the wash. The alcohol also adds a nice matt finish to the model. Just dont use alcohol if your model is painted with acrylics. USe turpentine then. After your satisfied with the effect, cover the model with "artists fixative" to preserve the pigments or pastels. One other person said "hairspray" worked very well as a fixative. I havent tried this method myself, so I cant speak for it. If your good with an airbrush, you can give it a light overspray of Tamiya "buff" to give it that dusty look also. There are lots of ways to weather it, you just have to experiment and see what works best for you. SInce your Humvee came out so good, you might want to experiment on a scrap model first.

Thanks Gary,I would create a dry mud...I've in my mind an image of an hummvee after the rain....sand go away from the car in some vertical stripes...the same effect that we can see on our car with dust...for example...if you know ford focus...my focus is black...after two days there's a lot of dust...if it rains the dust go away and the car has a strange "camo"... :-) . Now the problem is to recreate this effect on humvee and I must exam the difference between sand and dust weathering.I've tried mig pigment and in my opinion they're good for dust..(using tamiya thinner)but I'm not able to do the "wet sand stripes"....can the tamiya set for weathering be a solution?!about this any suggestion will be a good input for me!!!

One way you can try for the "vertical stripes" look is to put the pigments on dry and then using an alcohol dipped fan shaped brush pull downwards.

I know what you mean about black cars, I'll never own another one! Now I have a blue truck, I can wait 'till it rains for it to be washed.

Oh man, you guys had black nightmare cars too??? I had 4 of them. After every single one, I swore Id never buy another black car, but did never the less! LOL I remember my Black Camaro. I would spend the entire Saturday detailing it, then go out with my friends or girlfriend on Saturday night. I would wake up SUnday morning and want to cry because the darn thing was DIRTY AGAIN!!!! Ciro, next car, get a silver color. I have a Mercedes C230K now in Silver, and it never looks dirty. I liked the color so much, I painted my Ninja ZX9R the same color! LOL

As far as adding vertical "stripes" go, if I understand you correctly, you want the stripes to look a bit wet. As David stated, try using Tamiya thinner to streak the stripes downward. That should do the trick. If you want the stripes to appear wet or shiny, try mixing your pigments with a little bit of clear gloss or thinned out nail polish. ONe last thing, if you want to simulate "water drops" of dust on the top of the vehicle, try mixing your pigments with alcohol, then dip a stiff bristle brush in the solution, then point the brish at your model, and flick the bristles with your finger. This will leave tiny water droplets all over the place.

HI Ciro,

That looks like an interesting project. However, its not an M1114. I believe that is an M998 with the ASK kit. This is good though. Its actually cheaper to build that one then the M1114, and its also less work. You would need one of Tamiya's hummers (either the 1025 or the 1046), Calibre 35's open cab conversion for the Humvee, the ASK doors, and some MIG new style wheels. The turret vaguely resembles the new style turret available from MIG, although, a few small details look differant. You can scratch build the side armor easily with some sheet styrene as well as the spare tire carrier in the back (I havent seen this option in a kit yet, but someone I dont know of might make one). All in all, it looks like cool project. I had to take a break from my Humvees, I was starting to have nightmares about building them :-) IM working on Trumpeters LAV25 with photo etch at the moment. thanks Gary.....OhI know...this isn't a m1114.....I mean...Now this...(as you said a 998)....and then...next year an M1114 :-) ,....ok about 1025 and 1046,even for ask kit(EDUARD)and tires(mig or real model) but the caliber 35 open cab?!have you any photos about this?!

Silver is awesome, isnt it?!?!?! LOL Unfortunately, I dont have any pictures of the full kit as I have used bits and pieces of it to make other varients. however, I can tell you it is a great kit, and there is a review on it here.............

I bought one for about $15 from Greatmodels.com and I had bought another for $5 on Ebay. You can hunt around and find these from time to time on Ebay pretty cheap.

PS - Ciro, did you manage to find the real models humvee tires??? I looked everywhere and couldnt find them. IMHO, they look better then the MIg ones if you can dig up a set.
