A friend has asked for recommendations for a British Army Warrior or AS90 kit - both of which mean beans to me so I thought I would prostrate myself in the Allied section for help

The Warrior is available from Academy in 1/35th scale. The (necessary) updates from AA..
The AS90 is done by Trumpeter. Once again, Accurate Armour has an update available...

Hi Brian
With regards to the AS90 as Jim pointed out, Trumpeter do this kit but the gun tube length is apparently way off.
Ive got the Accurate Armour update set (the 39 calibre) version and there is almost an inch difference in the gun tube length between the kits gun tube and the AA one.
The AA set also comes with a partial interior for the rear compartment a PE fret and lots of resin parts but its not cheap at £49 so it depends on how much your friend wishes to spend on building as AS90.
Vinnie has the AA update set for this kit ( the 52 calibre version) in the Widows list.

The Academy Warriors are pretty nice. The decals in the OP Telic version are not correct though. They are for a Warrior ICV (Infantry Command Vehicle), not an Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV) as in the Academy kit. Bison does a nice set of decals that give you correct ISV and better ICV decals. AA does have some nice update sets for ICV and ISV versions as well.
Check out reviews of both the Warrior and AS-90 at PMMS.
I built the Warrior with AA's ICV set. You can see mine in the On Display Features section.

don't forget the excellent Revell Warriors in 1/72 scale. I believe Trumpeter has also issued an As-90 in 72nd too.

accuarte armour do a full resin one but the academy plastic is as good if not better.
in plastic 2 version by academy the later 2003 operation telic is the better of the 2 as it has improved front armour (the first kit it is way out of dimension) and some other additional parts but otherwise they are the same kit.
the side armour needs to be brought forward by 2mm as its out of postion.
the tracks are rubbish (just to fore warn you) as they bend / snap the rear axle.
the ride height is a little to high so you need to set the wheel right (this may help with the kit tracks).
there are a few updates available:-
Eduard do P/e
barrel depote do a very nice turned metal barrel
Frul do a set of working metal tracks.
accurate armour do plenty of update sets if you have the money
FV512/FV513 Warrior MRV(R)/MCRV
FV511 Warrior Infantry Command
FV515 Warrior Battery Command
FV514 Warrior OPV + MSTAR
Warrior Enhanced Armour IRAQ 2005
Warrior IFV Interior (Early, Clansman/Raven)
