I was just going to post the same exact question a few days from now when I get ready to start painting my Tarawa Sherman.
From most of the pics I have seen it seems to be darker then typical US OD, but I can't confirm that.

Reportedly, during World War 2, USMC tanks were delivered in the same No. 9 Olive Drab as the Army's, and there was no great imperative to repaint them in USMC green. Clean No. 9 is pretty dark--most "fading" seen in wartime photos is just a layer of dust (or possibly sea salt, in this case). Tamiya's is a good match, according to Steve Zaloga.
Postwar, the Marines were in a position to correct the color as vehicles were periodically repainted.
