This was posted as a FAQ question:

It's not out of the question. I guess I would want to know who might be interested in moderating such a forum (they would need to be a mfg/vendor of course) and also whether such a forum should be limited to registered users only (to post) or even limited to members only (which would require me to add them to a list - like the contributor round-table). This FAQ request doesn't tell me who asked this question so please email or PM me to discuss it further.

Cheers,
Jim

Hola Jim,

I think this is a wonderful idea! In my mind it would be a place to catch up on all the latest releases, upcomming goodies, special sales etc etc. Which would be great to have all in one spot.

On the other hand it could be abused as a 'free' advertisment spot...

Anders,
They can already do that in the General Modeling forum as their is a "vendor" group. Most vendors are pretty busy and would have to post a lot to really keep up with their stock. I would love it of course if a few of the smaller manufacturers (or even the larger) ones would post News articles on their new releases. I think that is the best way they can get some free press here.

I am unsure what the FAQ poster was wanting but I would kind of imagine also that the vendors wouldn't mind a forum where they could gab about issues specific to them. At least I know that a group of model site webmasters have used another small site I started last year for that kind of thing. Up until it started acting funny on new postings and since then we have sort of stopped using it.

Cheers,
Jim

I'll start by saying I'm not opposed to the idea.
I don't know what the advantage of a full forum for manufactures would be? From my stand point as a non-manufacturer I can see release information in the News area and Reviews tell me about specific products. One thing I see that might happen is that it would turn into free advertising for vendors.

Anyway - not opposed, those are just some of my thoughts.

Hola!

I would honestly rather have the releases etc. in a forum where you can give feed back easier and all the topics in one spot with less 'hassle' and wait time for the relaseses to be published and uploaded. But I definently think its a great idea and should be tested, even if it isnt used all day long, it would be there for anyone who wants so share their new releases etc. Also, if it become a popular forum it might be a place where the manufacturers could see what is in popular demand and maybe us modelers could influence them as to subjects etc, which is another good point.
