I've decided to do the ICM Luchs straight OOB. Getting myself ready for the Barbarossa group build by using this as a practice bantam panzer. Anyone build this kit before? I grabbed an Alan PzKpfw II C for my group build OOB kit. Both look to be decent kits. I have to admit, I kind of like these little panzers. Especially if I don't have to paint them in an intricate camouflage pattern.

I built one of it's sister kits, the Pz IId. It looks good when finished but you must be careful with the fit when joining the hull top and bottom. The rear edge goes together a little wierd with some awkwardly placed tabs and was difficult to get into place, in fact I nearly broke the hull top doing so. You'll probably want to do some seam cleanup back there after you get it together. Those track links are TINY....I replaced them with a Fruil. set.

I haven't bought this kit yet..I went the other way and bought the Techmod kit(not much better)...The reason I chose the Techmod kit is because ICM forgot to put the angled lower portion of the front hull plate ...Instead they give you a flat front nose....I know it doesn't really show that much but...How could they miss that...There also seem to be some missing road wheels ..I think they did the middle set as one wheel when in reality there were 2...There is good and bad in both kits ,and both really need a new barrel for sure..".Mr Tamiya ...What are you waiting for?????" LOL!

Rob,
I have an ICM Luchs that is about 75% done. I really like this little kit. The two problems mentioned in other posts are not the "worst problems" with this kit.. I believe the best thing about the kit is that it builds up very quickly. Just be careful with assembling the lower hull... make sure it's all squared up.. and it will look like Luchs when you're done with it.
Remember, this tank served with only a few units... the most "popular" was the 4th Panzer Division. If you need some "inspiration" for picking a paint job let me know... I've got lots of pictures of this tank.
Later,
Tim
